Hawkins Point Partners R&D Project Manager in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Hawkins Point is looking for a strong project manager within R&D to manage the data governance work streams supporting the data integrity efforts. This manager will be working primarily with researchers in developing a data centric governance group and managing tasks, meetings, processes, schedules, and action items. Guide the business in designing systems that meet today’s immediate business needs and for the future, that support an overall R&D data connected environment, consistent with the company vision. Will need to effectively collaborate and communicate with senior members of research, bench scientists, informaticians as well as IT groups supporting the implementation of new services. Recognize needs and develop tools that support new ways of working within Research groups, including drafting new Roles & Responsibilities descriptions. This person will need to manage multiple work stream agendas and coordinate with individual contributors to update and present status, roadblocks, and milestones. A person that can define and document “as is” and “to be” processes for decision making, task management, business and workflow processes are key.


  • Understanding of FAIR data principals, ontology management (creation and maintenance of official research semantic relationship), and data lifecycle management are crucial.

  • The ability to generate relevant documents and presentations as well as coordinate the content of additional providers in supporting the project teams are crucial deliverable of this position.

  • Experience with SCRUM methodology for project delivery as well as the ability to operate in a “mixed” project management environment will greatly benefit the program manager.

  • Will need strong partnering ability in working with other team members in business change management, communication, and training to ensure the success of the governance process but the successful release of the products as well.


  • A person with formal training/education in life science/biotechnology and both project management and business analyst skills in defining and implementing new processes is recommended.

  • Working knowledge of FAIR data principals, controlled vocabulary methodologies, and data life cycle management are crucial for maintaining credibility with customers.

  • Will need to “roll up their sleeves” and not just delegate or highlight gaps but work to create sustainable solutions and processes.
