RESEARCH SCIENTIST, Nuclear Science and Engineering-Baglietto CFD Research Group, to conduct modeling and simulation research in the area of nuclear thermal-hydraulics, with specific a focus on the development and implementation of advance single and multiphase flow models in computational fluid dynamics. Will lead and creatively contribute to multiple research projects and oversee graduate and undergraduate research assistants. May also teach courses at the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering and support the preparation of research proposals.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a Ph.D., preferably in nuclear engineering or a relevant discipline such as mechanical engineering, physics or chemical engineering; a minimum of five years’ experience in the development of CFD (computational fluid dynamics) methods; a minimum of three years’ experience in high performance computing, including national lab shared computing facilities; thorough understanding of nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics challenges; physical understanding of turbulence and multiphase flow theories, especially on the aspect of interfacial forces and wall boiling phenomena; experience supporting large national research projects involving university and national laboratories; self-motivation; and the ability to communicate research results in the form of juried research journal articles and to prepare competitive research funding proposals and manage research projects.
