Sanofi Group Science & Technology Intelligence Lead in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Position Overview:

The purpose of the Global Transversal Operations team is to provide an exciting, leading and supportive environment for our people to maximize the value of our pipeline and bring transformative drugs with pace to patients. In North America, we support R&D teams with optimized sites and infrastructure, processes and tools, knowledge and collaborative networks to ensure best-in-class implementation of our project strategies and maximize the engagement of our people across all our sites.

At the country level, we work in three main areas together with local R&D leaders and the Sanofi Country Council: People and Culture, Ecosystem and Operations. The Strategic Initiatives & Science Relations team in North America within Global Transversal Operations group works closely with internal leaders in R&D and business functions and external leaders and institutions to bring latest knowledge, expertise, and impactful partnering opportunities. We are also responsible for developing and maintaining our external scientific relations and overseeing academic partnerships across North America.

We are looking for a highly motivated leader and team player with a passion for developing and utilizing digital technologies for the position of Scientific Strategy & Intelligence . In this role, you will have an opportunity to define and lead the digital transformation of Sanofi R&D’s external scientific relations practices which includes a) leveraging of scientific, technological and business expertise in the North America ecosystem, b) identifying relevant and impactful emerging scientific and technological knowledge and c) creating interactions between internal and external leaders for seamless access and utilization of knowledge related to discovery and development of innovative medicines. This highly visible position will allow you to interact with stakeholders across R&D and business functions to identify key gaps and needs in our external innovation and ecosystem interaction practices and implement digital solutions to address these gaps and needs. You will also play a lead role in positioning Sanofi as a leader in the use of digital technologies to identify and bring value-creating and innovative external knowledge, expertise, and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead efforts to digitally transform our efforts to identify collaborative opportunities, scientific and technology trends, build external networks and gain insights through sustainable connections.

  • Develop comprehensive digital strategies for the maximal realization of value from publicly available data sources and lead it implementation.

  • Using latest digital methodologies, comprehensively map all sources of innovation and partnering opportunities (academic, foundations, public institutions etc.).

  • Work closely with teams across Sanofi R&D to map the gaps in gaining access to emerging innovation and managing external partnerships and provide digital solutions to address these gaps.

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders across NA R&D and business units to identify emerging digital needs of the organization related to external innovation, seamless connectedness between external and internal leaders and customers – lead the development of solutions and implementation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate in computer sciences or related field required; Master’s degree or PhD in life sciences or computational biology is preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills and excellent writing skills.

  • Strong experience in the use of AI/ML analytical tools for the analysis of scientific and technology literature and knowledge of emerging innovations in this space.

  • 2 plus years of industry experience preferred.

  • 5 plus years of experience in data mining and analytics.

  • 2 plus years of project management experience preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Self-motivated, prone to action, autonomous and results oriented with ability to lead multiple complex initiatives (short, mid and long-term) with impact.

  • Critical thinking. Good judgment and decision-making abilities.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication/presentation skills.
