Demonstrated experience with infrastructure support related to network, server admin, operating system support and hardware.
TCP/IP networking knowledge: networking topology, protocols and services (e.g., TCP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
Good leadership skills and solutions oriented
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Detail oriented and diligent.
Entrepreneurial by nature with a strong sense of ownership.
Experience with Building Management technologies, physical security technologies, security cameras, Point of Sale, etc. preferred.
Experience with OT/IoT devices and asset management.
Experience with other key technologies such as Microsoft Windows server, Red Hat Linux, Citrix, SQL Server/Oracle databases and reporting tools.
Experience working with vendor products and understanding of integration needs with enterprise systems preferred.
Experience with a programming or scripting language preferred.
Experience with cloud specifically AWS preferred.

Senior Applications Engineer, Operational Technologies

This position will support applications and systems within HUIT’s Operational Technology portfolio. Operational Technologies (OT) are technologies that monitor or control things in our physical environment. They include such things as: building control systems, industrial control systems, lab monitoring and control systems, etc. This position is part of a team providing support for existing OT systems, and involved in deploying new OT systems. You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical systems and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security.
Principal duties and Responsibilities
Ensure the optimal implementation of OT systems, by leading or participating in projects involving teams from different parts of Harvard, HUIT, and 3rd party partners.
Drive the resolution of OT system issues by working with business and HUIT partners to both restore service, identify root causes and remediate them.
Participate in the 24/7 support rotation and support activities as needed to ensure that customer service levels are met.
Act as senior technical contact for some of our business partners, and vendor relationships.
Communicate effectively with business owners, project managers, architects and developers both internal and external to the University.
On an as needed basis, lead other team members to deliver services, and/or projects.
Be a contributor to road maps and longer-term plans for the HUIT-OT team.
