Reporting to the Head of IT, the Senior Manager, IT will partner with internal and external stakeholders to play a key functional role in scaling IT support and infrastructure for Generation Bio. This role will gain a deeper understanding of various business processes, partners, and the supporting technologies. The successful candidate will benchmark and keep abreast of IT technologies related to the pharmaceutical industry as well as implementation of best practices. Using these insights, the role is responsible for identifying technology-related opportunities, assessing such opportunities, and collaborating with stakeholders to prioritize and deploy technology solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance, networking and operating system expertise, project management, and serve as an escalation resource for all technical needs

  • Manage and support a hybrid environment with corporate SaaS based cloud infrastructure, internal hardware assets and users.

  • Must be willing to take a hands-on approach and have the ability to perform network and server administration tasks as required.

  • Manage contractors from Managed Service Provider and potentially other IT team members and provide user support as needed

  • Provide network design, definition and coordination of standards, project management, and technology research.

  • Manage all related vendor support contracts for hardware, software, and connectivity.

  • Develops and maintains project plans, status reports, issue logs, and other project related artifacts. Assess technical risk and mitigation plans.

  • Manage the daily operations related to incoming requests from the enterprise and escalation via third party to ensure timely, courteous, and effective resolution of all end-user issues.

  • Apply advanced knowledge of Quality requirements to develop process and system solutions that are scalable and flexible

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field

  • 5+ years preferred experience in gathering, analyzing, designing and implementing IT systems used in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Strong knowledge of IT Service Management practices and principles, and implementation of ITSM and ITIL platform

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate in an organized and concise manner

  • Experience with VMware, Microsoft Windows Servers, Office 365, Windows 7/10, MAC OSX, MDM, SSO, Mimecast and ELN

  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, LAN/WAN, VPN Management, IP Routing, Firewall/Routers/Switches (Cisco Meraki and Palo Alto)

  • Experience in vendor management, computer operations, technical management, end user support and network management.

  • Ability to adapt and work well in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in AWS/Azure cloud-based services and virtualized networks a plus
