Biogen Senior Portfolio Manager in Cambridge, Massachusetts
The Senior Portfolio Manager for Biosimilars Pipeline will play a key role in the Biosimilars Business Unit (BBU). Reporting to the Pipeline Lead, the Portfolio Manager will be responsible for establishing and managing the portfolio of internal clinical develop programs and external Business Development projects. This role will be key in growing the business through the management of projects, communication and reporting across Biogen and alliance partners, to support program decision making. The Portfolio Manager will enable and drive pipeline prioritization across the portfolio of key cross-functional initiatives through managing the reporting of progress against milestones and KPI’s and leading the portfolio planning meetings with key stake holders. In addition, they will manage business development diligence projects to evaluate external opportunities. Key Responsibilities: Establish and Manage Product Portfolio Decision Making Process: · Manages portfolio of active and pending projects/initiatives and drives prioritization. Holds direct and/or indirect accountability for management of the progress for one or several projects. Assumes responsibility for the delivery of core project tracking deliverables: Charter, Project Plan, Task Plan, Risk and Issues, Status Reports. · Lead stage gate forums empowered to make go/no-go decisions on pipeline projects · Lead Portfolio Review meetings to drive pipeline prioritization, organizational alignment and provide stakeholder visibility · Develop and manage an incisive portfolio tracking and reporting system to drive strategic decision making including portfolio management tool kit, start/stop decision framework. · Bring a consolidated view of metrics and improvement progress to the Leadership Team to enable business insights and learning. Recommend and implement methods to demonstrate and sustain improvements. Ad-hoc projects: · Lead diligence projects related to external Business Development opportunities · Work with business partners to proactively identify, prioritize, facilitate, and lead projects which drive continuous improvement. Motivate, mentor, and teach others the principles and tools of Portfolio and Project Management: · Share examples across end-to-end processes, offer alternatives, and provide constructive feedback to create a culture of continuous improvement throughout Biogen. · Ability to manage and inspire a cross-functional, global project team. * · Minimum >7 years relevant experience in ideally in biotech/pharma industry or management consulting · Strong leadership and interpersonal team skills. Strong influencer and facilitator, able to build strong working relationships across a variety of levels, functions, and geographies · Superior problem-solving skills, leadership qualities, influencing, communicating, and consulting skills, team/interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with others from any functional area or background, to influence thinking, and gain acceptance. This role will be key in the shaping of business strategy, management of information flow and collaboration across Biogen BBU and alliance partner(s).
