Microsoft Corporation Senior Program Manager (CAT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts
We are looking to hire technical and highly detail-oriented Program Manager to join our diverse, talented, high performing, and rapidly growing Customer Architecture Team (CAT) within Customer Success. The position is focused on the coordination and execution of challenging and exciting Industry projects across Microsoft’s Cloud platform and offerings , as well as providing an opportunity to enable delivery of our strategic Outcome-Based Cross Solutions .
Program Managers within CAT are senior individual contributors who operate globally and engage directly with our team, account teams, and customers. It is a hands-on role spanning across design, build, and production phases of engagement. Candidates are expected to comfortably transition from sprint planning and collecting success criteria to presenting Executive briefings on project progress . This is a truly exciting role that will feature unique and challenging technical collaboration, communication up and down the organizational hierarchy, and opportunities to impact Microsoft’s most strategic Industry and Outcome-Based efforts.
The Customer Architecture Team operates within the Customer Success (CS) unit, part of the Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions (MCAPS) organization. Customer Success is responsible for enabling organizations to deploy, adopt, and realize business value from their investment in Microsoft.
The Customer Architecture Team is a highly technical team that operates globally and is responsible for:
Working directly on our most strategic customer projects worldwide to ensure their High Priority projects are successful on our cloud platform across all industries, with a special focus on designing and helping customers to build production applications.
Producing high quality technical and architectural guidance across Microsoft’s Cloud platforms and Industry offerings for internal and external communities, scaling though the sharing of best practices worldwide.
Providing a positive impact to the strategic direction of Microsoft engineering teams by ensuring they fully understand the end to end technical details of their services through the eyes of our customers.
The development and mentorship of technical delivery personnel within the Customer Success organization.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or cloud/infrastructure technologies
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or cloud/infrastructure technologies
OR equivalent experience.
4+ years project/program management experience
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or cloud/infrastructure technologies
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or cloud/infrastructure technologies
OR equivalent experience.
Technical Certification in Cloud (e.g., Azure).
Proven experience managing large-scale engineering programs or projects, preferably at international scale.
Exceptional executive level communication and engagement skills.
Core Agile project management skills, including stakeholder management, planning, scheduling, reporting, resource management, communications, and risk management.
Solid technical aptitude and the ability to understand technical designs, challenges, and risks. Engineers enjoy working closely with you and you with engineers.
Experience managing technology-focused projects is essential, preferably including components from infrastructure, cloud, security, IoT, Office365 or Productivity solutions.
Maintain cross-functional stakeholder engagement at multiple leadership levels, managing expectations, be a trusted advisor and delivering successful outcomes.
Actively engage in continuous learning, gathering and provide feedback on lessons learned, best practices, and innovations on process/procedures and tools to improve efficiencies and productivity.Facilitate meetings that drive the rhythm of the business forward.
Learn, live, and coach the One Microsoft culture and values. Lead through change by bringing clarity, generating energy, and delivering success.
Candidates must also exhibit a technical propensity to learn new technologies and stay abreast of Microsoft Cloud Platform advancements and understand relevant trends.
There may be up to 50% travel for this role as Program Managers are sometimes expected to work on-site with customers, with an occasional need to be in Redmond WA to engage directly with the broader Customer Architecture Team and relevant engineering teams.
Program Managers are remote workers that can be based across different Microsoft locations or home offices depending on individual circumstances.
The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $138,200 and $206,800. At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
