Security boundaries have changed, and identity is the new perimeter. With such a shift, there is a strong emphasis on carefully analyzing, and in many cases, hitting Refresh on the components that comprise the enterprise identity and access management platforms as we know them.

Microsoft is seeking a public key infrastructure (PKI) focused senior service engineering manager to join the Digital Security & Resilience (DSR) organization as we continue to drive security initiatives to safeguard our company and its mission to empower every person and everyone organization on the planet to achieve more.

With your experience and knowledge leading or providing certificate services to large scale enterprises, you will be accountable for an incredibly high-volume and mission critical PKI implementation for the business. Together with the engineering team and business partners, you will guide us through advancement in security, transparency, capability, and service consumer efficiencies.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities:

  • Support and lead a highly specialized engineering team responsible for the operation of Microsoft public key infrastructure.

  • Develop, mentor, and coach engineers on their respective career development goals and aspirations.

  • Cultivate a culture of service excellence with a keen eye on security, fault tolerance, availability, performance, and obsession about the customer.

  • Translate extremely complicated technical concepts into actionable business outcomes that can be communicated and easily clearly understood at all levels.

  • Partner with PKI professionals internally and externally to drive continuous improvements in the overall security, transparency, and simplicity of the program (and discipline where possible!).

  • Own, triage, investigate and resolve service issues with an emphasis on broad communications, learning & teaching throughout the process.

Qualifications

Knowledge, experience and skills required:

  • 3+ years of technical/service team leadership experience

  • 3+ years of experience providing mission critical technical services for a large-scale enterprise

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred, not required:

  • Familiarity with Web PKI standards (e.g., WebTrust/ETSI)

  • Extensive verbal and written communication capability

  • Experience running enterprise certificate services & PKI at scale

  • BS/BA in Computer Science or Engineering or similar technical discipline or equivalent work experience
