Our team is part of the Secure Edge Network group within our Edge Technology organization. We help thousands of the largest enterprises around the world manage their websites and secure their transactions over the internet. Help shape the future of the Internet

In this role, you'll work on high-reliability/high-throughput systems that manage our customer's security certificates and configurations. Our team provides support to several other teams at Akamai who require secure delivery. Our work centers around building systems which operate at large scale, with high resilience and performance.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing and developing systems capable of handling tens of thousands of concurrent operations

  • Developing software to make efficient use of Relational Database Management Systems and NoSQL databases

  • Architecting modular services to serve DevOps, internally and externally

  • Building interfaces for performance monitoring, exception handling and overall management of a real-time workflow system

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, another related field or its equivalent

  • Have experience building workflow-style systems such as RTOS or high-volume transaction processing

  • Display in-depth knowledge of Object Oriented programming and test-driven development in Java and Python

  • Possess excellent communication skills, be self-driven, positive and an effective team player
