Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Cambridge, Massachusetts

The Azure ML team in Cambridge, MA is building scalable, distributed, highly available, and secure cloud services that enable data scientists to track, explore, reproduce, and share their work.

Azure's AI Platform spearheads Microsoft’s bold vision to democratize ML technology and make it available to every enterprise, developer and data scientist. The Azure Machine Learning organization plays a major role in making this real by providing a secure, compliant, and scalable machine learning platform in the cloud. We empower customers to

operationalize their entire ML lifecycle from model development to deployment and beyond. Customers interact with the platform through the CLI, multi-language SDK, our UI, and direct API calls.

We are looking for a Senior Engineer with experience developing cloud services and who is passionate about building a product that will empower our customers who are driving the data science revolution. As a team we adopt a culture of working together to solve hard problems, taking risks and failing fast, clear and transparent communication, and deeply understanding our customer's scenarios so that we can build the best solution for them.

Responsibilities

As a member of our team your responsibilities would include:

  • Write concise, well-factored, and readable code with effective test coverage

  • Build reliable, scalable, secure, and high-performance services

  • Design and implement new features as well as add functionality to existing systems

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered by customers or pre-production validation

  • Participate in an on-call rotation (typically 24/7 for one week several times per year)

  • Be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and a great collaborator

  • Be obsessed with making customers successful

  • Mentor other team members through code reviews and conversations

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years software design and development skills/experience

  • Fluent in C#, Python, or equivalent programming languages

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related fields

Preferred:

  • Experience with developing and maintaining cloud services

  • Experience with building highly secure systems while maintaining dev velocity

  • Familiar with any of AspNetCore, Redis, CosmosDB, Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written

These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
