Senior Software Engineer (Akamai Technologies, Inc.; Cambridge, Massachusetts)(multiple positions): The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining a suite of information-rich, security-focused web applications and component libraries. The Senior Software Engineer will be involved in every step of the development process to ensure a highly interactive, useful and usable web-based product – from developing and articulating requirements and product visions, through conceptualization, documenting, communicating design work, collaborating with user experience designers, and implementation. Specifically, the Senior Software Engineer is responsible for the following: Developing and maintaining a suite of information-rich, security-focused web applications and component libraries; Overseeing every step of the development process to ensure a highly interactive, useful, and usable web-based product; Developing and articulating technical requirements and product visions through conceptualization, documentation, communication of design work, collaboration with user experience designers, and implementation; Working closely with product managers, UX designers, back-end engineers, and test engineers to implement elegant and easy-to-use front-end software solutions, using experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and component-based architecture; Promoting best practices and smart component reuse in order to create maintainable web applications; Contributing, innovating, and bringing usability and aesthetics to our software products; Maintaining and extending the existing product UI and component libraries; and Developing common UI components for modular development.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years of software engineering experience. Alternatively, will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years of software engineering experience.

MUST HAVE: 3 years of UI development experience with unit-testing client-side code (including Karma and Jasmine) and client-side tooling (including NodeJS, NPM, Webpack, Browserify, Gulp, and MAVEN); 3 years of experience with web technologies, including JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and component-based architecture; 2 years of experience with Angular 2 and ES6; 1 year of experience with Typescript; Knowledge of user interface and information design processes and methodology; Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. (Unless otherwise specified, no minimum number of years or amount of experience is required. All experience may be gained concurrently.)
