The Space Systems Engineer will be part of a team in support of NASA’s return to the moon as part of the Artemis Program Human Landing System (HLS). Key responsibilities will include the development and management of requirements specifications, development of mission timelines, concept of operations, and developing test, verification, and certification plans.

Leveraging Draper’s expertise in guidance navigation and control (GN&C), fault-tolerant avionics, human-systems technology, spacecraft mission management and embedded systems, the candidate will support Draper’s National Security and Space (NS&S) mission areas in developing and delivering system solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS, MS, or PhD degree in mechanical, electrical, computer, or aerospace engineering with at least 8-10 years of training or experience in a space systems engineering discipline.

  • Experience in space systems engineering, including, but not limited to requirements development, analysis and management; concept of operations and mission timeline development; guidance, navigation and control (GN&C) systems; fault-tolerant avionics, spacecraft mission management, and reliability assessment for human-rated spacecraft.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be a highly motivated, self-starter with willingness to learn and participate in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective collaborations with government, industry, and academia.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in working with and applying model-based systems engineering best practices to design, develop, build, and transition the systems into fielded use.

  • Familiarity with the applicable government research and technology development roadmaps, and system requirements for operations in a space environment.
