The Space Systems Engineer will be responsible for developing core technologies, conceiving innovative solutions, and delivering technical products in support of Draper’s National Security and Space (NS&S) business unit. Leveraging Draper’s expertise in guidance navigation and control (GN&C), fault-tolerant avionics, human-systems technology, spacecraft mission management and embedded systems, the candidate will support the NS&S mission areas in developing early stage concepts and seeing them through to become full system solutions.
BS, MS, or PhD degree in mechanical, electrical, computer, or aerospace engineering with at least 5 years of training or experience in a space systems engineering discipline.
Experience in space systems engineering, including, but not limited to requirements development and analysis, guidance, navigation and control (GN&C), fault-tolerant avionics, spacecraft mission management, and reliability assessment.
Developing and maturing applicable core technologies through research and development activities, crafting innovative solutions, and technical excellence in project execution for space and mission critical systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and be a highly motivated, self-starter with willingness to learn and participate in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to develop effective collaborations with government, industry, and academia.
Familiarity with the applicable government research and technology development roadmaps, and system requirements for operations in a space environment.
Experience in working with and applying model-based systems engineering best practices to design, develop, build, and transition the systems into fielded use.
Experience in capturing new business through leading and supporting the writing of technical proposals, authoring of white papers, and briefing materials.
Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a United States government security clearance and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Current in scope Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility is highly desired.
