  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent field

  • Minimum 5 years of data warehousing experience and/or in a technical role supporting Business Intelligence applications

  • Ability to write efficient and complex Oracle SQL and PL/SQL within an Oracle 11g environment

  • Ability to deliver clear and effective communications, both written and verbal, to managers, peers and customers

  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies; excellent collaboration skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of personal initiative

  • Ability to translate functional needs into technical solutions

  • Demonstrated experience with software development life cycle methodologies, including Agile.

Additional Qualifications:In addition to the required skills, the ideal candidate will have these highly desirable skills:

  • Experience with the Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition suite of tools, with preferred strength in RPD development, Answers, Dashboards and BI Publisher

  • Experience with Qlikview and Qlik Sense, including QVD design, Qlik performance tuning, and user access design. Experience with Qlikview Server and Publisher, Qlik application deployment, NPrinting, and other Qlik technologies. Good understanding of Qlik architecture and support

  • Experience with comparable Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau, Microsoft PowerBI, MicroStrategy, and other top-echelon BI platforms

  • Knowledge of large Universities and/or Non Profit Organizations is desirable

  • Working knowledge of Informatica 9x is desirable

  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix, Java, WebLogic, XML and Linux or Unix shell scripting

  • Experience with code version control (GIT, Subversion, PVCS, CVS, or similar tool) and web application development using Java, JavaScript, and various web application server APIs

  • Experience working in Agile, AWS (or other Cloud technologies), and DevOps environments

The Business Intelligence Solutions Engineer is responsible for the enhancement, support and maintenance of BI application platforms on behalf of internal Harvard organizations, such as, but not limited to Alumni Affairs and Development, Human Resources, Finance, Sponsored Programs, and Capital Planning communities.

You will work collaboratively with other technical team members, functional product teams and release management to deliver BI application platform services, including supporting the BI tools and helping to design and build BI data models and promote best practices in a distributed development environment. You will also enhance and maintain database objects and ETL code to integrate data from enterprise and local sources, populating data warehouse and metadata repository data models, working with others to develop and deploy.

You may also help build and maintain solutions for Harvard reporting and analytics stakeholders using one of several business intelligence tools, including OBIEE, QlikView, Qlik Sense, Custom Solutions, and additional BI tools. Building such solutions may include you designing, configuring and implementing various semantic layers, or building and deploying dashboards, and/or analytic applications and reports.
