Job Description
AECOM is seeking to hire a Business Development Director: Offshore Services Lead (America) to support our exciting projects nationally.
This remote role is within the AECOM Environment Business Line as the champion for AECOM Americas’ Offshore Services (OS) campaign, which includes growing offshore wind, subsea telecommunications, energy infrastructure, and oil and gas opportunities in the marine space and directing large-scale projects. This position can be located anywhere within the contiguous United States and will work remotely/virtually or travel to project offices. In this role, you will lead our National Offshore Services team for the advancement of AECOM’s interests in Offshore related work in the US and support growth in Latin America. You will have the opportunity to drive growth and lead projects that are transforming our offshore infrastructure markets.
The duties of the OS initiative lead include the continued business development and advancement of AECOM’s offshore market growth strategy. This role is expected to be 50% of the candidate’s workload, with responsibilities including:
Support the development and implementation of AECOM’s overall strategy and approach for the offshore market, including seeking new opportunities, building the sales pipeline, and leading capture on major pursuits including managing proposals.
Direct and assist with growing an already well-established Marine Science, energy, and permitting team to effectively capture additional offshore-related work.
Be the leader of the Americas’ Offshore Services business development team and lead growth in areas including Offshore Wind (OSW), Oil and Gas, and Subsea telecommunication.
Provide effective strategies for growing opportunities within the offshore wind market, by working collaboratively across AECOM’s EPP, Energy, and Ports teams.
Lead monthly OSW business development calls to strategize and work through conflicts in the best interest of AECOM’s overall business opportunities.
Lead East and West Region teams and coordinate with Latin American team to preposition and pursue offshore business opportunities.
Collaborate with the Global Business Line Offshore Lead and other regions on resourcing and client connections.
Act as Capture Manager of major Offshore proposals with a focus on strategy and developing key win themes.
Coordinate with AECOM’s established network of Client Account Managers to grow offshore-related accounts.
Work with our established Technical Practice Network to identify gaps and recruit high-end talent needed to build AECOM’s Offshore Program.
Assist with the strategic planning and development activities related to conferences, webinars, and related offshore-focused marketing efforts.
Candidate will also have the responsibility of acting as project Principal or Project Manager on large-scale offshore projects. In this role, candidate will balance business development with playing a key role in the delivery of large-scale offshore programs. Duties include but are not limited to:
Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary project teams in the preparation of local, state, and federal permitting or planning/designing infrastructure for offshore wind energy projects, with a particular focus on the preparation of permit applications, BOEM Site Assessment and Construction and Operations Plans, Environmental Impact Statements, and supporting technical studies.
Support the management and execution of project deliverables, scope development, cost estimation, staff resource identification, implementation oversight, budget tracking, and completion of administrative requirements.
Management of client accounts.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
BS, preferably in Biology, Natural Resources, Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering, Energy, or a related field
12+ years of relevant experience including 2 years of leadership in the offshore energy sector, power permitting, and impact assessment and permitting.
Must be willing and able to travel when and as requested (not to exceed 40% time).
Valid Driver’s License and must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
Preferred Qualifications:
MS in Biology, Natural Resources, Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering, Energy, or a related field is preferred.
15+ years of relevant experience, with progressive development in the energy sector, power permitting, impact assessment and permitting, renewable energy design/construction is preferred.
Experience that includes understanding of the regulatory and technical elements of the offshore wind market, lease and call area development, state policies and agreements driving the market, and fundamental understanding of the interconnect and transmission infrastructure requirements desired.
Knowledge of sediments and soil remediation, an understanding of environmental impacts of port development, construction compliance oversight, and energy transmission systems.
Prior experience in technical leadership roles with BOEM Permitting Submittals and an understanding of the offshore market and key players.
Experience in the Gulf of Mexico, including offshore permitting.

Offered rate of compensation (Colorado locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is: $180,000 - $266,000.
Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (NYC locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $266,000.
Offered rate of compensation (Washington, DC) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is: $70,000 - $180,000 - $266,00.
