State of Massachusetts Lead Developer in Chelsea, Massachusetts

The Tax Administration Division is responsible for fostering voluntary compliance and narrowing the tax gap by identifying, educating, and auditing noncompliant taxpayers. The Tax Administration Division audits the tax returns of businesses and individuals filed, including sales/use, meals, room’s occupancy and special fuels are subject to examination by the Tax Administration Division staff.
The Department of Revenue is hiring a Developer to join the Data Analytics team in the Tax Administration Division. The Developer will report to the Data Analytics Director. The successful candidate will be the lead Developer for the analytic teams. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating with the Genisys platform and FAST to ensure that the Analytic teams projects are migrated timely and efficiently. The candidate will oversee all development migration for the Analytic groups.
The ideal candidate must be able to:
Design and develop code using VB.NET
Analyze code and component dependencies and develop in a configuration-based system
Work with SQL server databases
Understand process design and technical requirements documentation
Work both independently and within a project team to design, develop and deliver software solutions for new and existing functionality
Analyze and build data for test, triage defects to draw conclusions, define issues and make appropriate recommendations
Act as a reliable source for early feedback on new functionality and feature changes
Remain flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced changing environment and juggle changing priorities
Work well with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
4-5 years of software development experience using VB.NET
Proficiency in SQL Server database development techniques
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
Superior organizational skills, self-driven with attention to detail and follow-through on tasks
Knowledge of Tax business processes
Experience with GeniSys development toolset and processes
