RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for the successful software design for Automated Logic commercial HVAC controls projects, database creation, as well the implementation of the Engineering department procedures and standards used in the programming and documentation of HVAC controls projects.

The candidate will have responsibility for the following in addition to miscellaneous assignments as needed.

  • Complete assigned projects on or before the scheduled project startup date by coordinating with and facilitating the work of various internal and external resources.

  • Attend and contribute to project kickoff meetings, project review meetings, and monthly engineering meetings with the Engineering Manager, Director of Operations, and General Manager.

  • Utilize developed engineering standards to maximize efficiency.

  • Fully read and understand project specific sequence of operations.

  • Maintain customer specific and departmental programming and database standards.

  • Create accurate and efficient control algorithms to maximize efficiency in the field.

  • Program DDC modules to meet exact sequence of operation. Program and configure integration between multiple vendors using open and proprietary software. • Configure system database for reporting, alarming and monitoring of Building Automation Systems.

  • Interface with and support Sr. Engineers in the development of job-specific control programs.

  • Depending on discipline, serve as in-house reference for issues arising at job sites related to the building automation and laboratory control system programming.

  • Participate in solution of job-related problems. Facilitate escalation of product related problems and immediately report issues/problems to the Engineering Manager.

  • Assist Engineering Manager and/or the sales department in project development efforts.

  • Participate in other projects as assigned by the Engineering Manager as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven success in handling diverse challenges. Knowledge of different disciplines, be a creative problem solver and must be able to thrive while managing multiple priorities.

  • Engineering College or 4‐year technical degree and/or industry related engineering including HVAC Systems, DDC Systems, and software.

  • Knowledgeable in DDC applications pertaining to the HVAC/control industry.

  • Skilled in use of personal computer software Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio or the equivalent.

  • Knowledgeable in PC networking, database development and advanced PC functions.

  • Ability to visit job construction hard hat areas and climb stairs, maneuver in and around pipework and air ducts and work safely in close proximity to exposed line voltage and low voltage wiring and terminations

  • Possess valid state motor vehicle license and possess safe driving record as required by company’s insurance carrier

  • Experience with BACnet and Niagara based products is preferred

Qualification:

  • 5 years of controls software development experience

  • Experience with software architecture and design patterns

  • Familiarity with control logic and debugging

  • Experience with configuration/change management

  • Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel

  • Organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities

  • Proven ability to implement continuous improvements and standardize processes

  • Experience with various connectivity protocols (Bacnet, Modbus, Zigbee, etc.)

  • (HVAC) System Design Experience (preferred)

Education:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience in control systems
