Molex Quality Specialist in Clinton, Massachusetts

This position will work 20-25 hours per week on first shift.

The PT Molding CAD Technician will assist the Mold Engineering Department, and Design Engineers, as required, with projects relating to the design, improvements, and maintenance of plastic injection molds for precision molded, and insert molded parts, that meet or exceed the division's expectations in terms of cost, quality, and speed.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare CAD mold design layouts and assemblies for new and revised molds per agreed upon specifications, lead-time, and performance targets under the direction and guidance of supervisor or other mold design engineers. Prepares fully detailed CAD documentation for the purpose of fabricating the mold and mold components. Detailing includes: creating and dimensioning mold components, setup charts, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.

  • Reviews Engineering Drawings and Designs, and check them prior to build release. Revise existing mold designs for product engineering changes, revisions or issues arising from tool qualification or optimization. Work closely with mold designers, product engineering, mold process engineering, and molding plant personnel to provide the optimum design.

  • Design, create, and maintain engineering documentation that complies with all Molex Global Standards, methods and practices. Maintain complete mold design packages including print updates, revisions, and consistent documentation. Use Work Manager and proper document control insuring correct revision levels are maintained and consistent with the latest product updates. Translate product models and mold designs from external customer and suppliers CAD systems into the Molex CAD system as needed.

  • Ensure that mold drawing for build, qualification, debug, or production purposes are distributed to the appropriate people (internal and external) at the proper revision level.

  • Maintain a safe work environment and good housekeeping practices.

Assist the quality function by serving as a focal point for information collection and distribution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage key quality processes (Document Control, CAPA, non-conforming, deviation, OOS, calibration, etc).

  • Support quality systems by collecting and providing information to internal and external customers and perform tasks such as generating engineering change orders, ensuring quality system paperwork is up-to-date and meets GMP compliance

  • Support quality during audits and visits (i.e., customer, regulatory, registrar, internal)

  • Interact with external customers on issues not requiring technical information from quality engineering such as corrective actions, customer approval/submissions, returned material authorization (RMA), etc.

  • Manage customized ERP activities such as generating and maintaining the corrective action, doc control, calibration, NCMR and RMA/complaint systems

  • Effectively communicate Quality metrics across all levels of the organization

  • Work within a team environment to complete other quality related duties as assigned

  • Review DHR records for accuracy, GDP and compliance as a part of the LHR batch release process

  • Review daily dimensions for GDP and compliance to documented specifications

  • Provide feedback to the Quality Team Lead of any OOT conditions

  • Provide additional support to Quality Technicians on a fill in basis

  • Technical Associates Degree in Quality related field with 0 – 2 years related experience,

  • OR,

  • Minimum four (4) years of directly related experience and education with no degree.

  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in an engineering or customer-related discipline

  • Proficient computer skills including ERP systems

  • Ability to manage multiple projects

  • Strong communication, teamwork and organizational skills

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Understanding of quality systems and metrology
