Emerson Hospital Sr. Applications Analyst - Home Care in Concord, Massachusetts

Job Summary

Reporting to the Applications Manager and Director of Home Care, the Senior Applications Analyst (Home Care Information System Analyst) is responsible for the management, analysis, testing, and support of financial, clinical, and administrative applications for the home care department to include Allscripts and Alldocs and all hospital applications used by home care. The Senior Applications Analyst is responsible for providing training to other employees, including technical, application, and user employees. With minimal oversight, the Applications Analyst is responsible for providing project management for the installation and support of new applications, upgrades and standards, and providing documentation for all applications.

This position's responsibilities span the entire Health System. All duties should be performed in a manner that promotes teamwork and reflects the mission and philosophy of the Health System.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Health Care, Nursing, Information Systems, or related specialty, and/or equivalent experience/training with a minimum of six (6) of experience in the health care industry.

Job Functions:

§ Researches and maintains knowledge of emerging new applications and strategies and their relative value against competitors and the benefit to the organization. Easily assimilates new software applications and arrives at viable conclusions regarding their value to the organization. Must communicate complex application requirements to management and business units.

§ Assists in feasibility studies and cost/benefit analysis.

  • Performs application support for all existing applications. This may include monitoring application performance, auditing the application to insure maximum usage, problem diagnosis and resolution, application training, leading policy and procedure development, and updating and maintaining documentation.

§ Able to identify, analyze, and plan for individual user requirements and expectations as well as the Home Care business unit requirements.

§ With minimal oversight, responsible for Project Management of the implementation of new application software or for upgrades to existing application software.

§ Acts as the expert resource in the evaluation of the infrastructure for the new applications.

§ Responsible for working with the technical staff to develop a usable network design for all existing and proposed applications.

§ Produces procedures and policies for new application software and/or methodologies.

§ Acts as a resource to the Help Desk for escalation of complex application software problem resolution.

§ Recommends and coordinates external technical services to be used during the implementation or support of the software.

§ Documents the application software decisions, system designs and procedures.

§ Train's supporting IS staff on new/upgraded applications.

§ Conducts professional presentations on an as needed basis.

§ Conducts individual application testing and integrated testing of all system functions and interfaces. Is able to write test plans and test scripts.

§ Works well and provides positive interpersonal relations in dealing with fellow employees, supervisors, and the other department employees.

§ Provides and facilitates initial assessment and triage support to end user (clinicians) laptops within the hospital network to include application installation, system log in and connectivity issues.

§ Liaison between Home Care and divisions within Information System for all information system issues affecting the Home Care department

§ Works with Home care management to generate required files and provide technical over site for file transmission (OASIS, HHCAHPS etc) as required by regulatory requirements.

§ Works with home care management to provide technical support for creation individualized reports.

§ Documents follow up for issues/concerns on projects. Updates must be timely and in excellent written or verbal form.

§ Maintains confidentiality of all information related to patients, medical staff, employees, and business issues.

§ Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with fellow employees, supervisors, and other department employees, so that productivity and positive employee relations are maximized.
