Sage Therapeutics Associate Director, Data Governance & MDM in EMAIL:, Massachusetts

General Scope and Summary

The Data and Analytics team sits in the Digital and Enterprise Capabilities group and is responsible for driving the strategy, implementation, and delivery of data, analytics, and automation capabilities across the Sage enterprise . This central team will deliver “Next-Gen Value” by establishing core Data and Analytics capabilities needed to effectively manage and exploit data as an enterprise asset.

The Associate Director, Data Governance & MDM (Master Data Management) will be responsible for implementing and supporting enterprise Data Governance & MDM capabilities and use cases, which will enable teams across Sage answer strategic and business questions through data.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the strategy to drive Data Governance & MDM capabilities for the enterprise. Define indicators of performance and governance metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements.

  • Recruit, train, and lead data champions across different lines of business, holding them accountable for the quality of data within their teams.

  • Define, manage, and ensure an adequate information trust model, controls for master data, and metadata management, including reference data.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and implement governance policies, balancing centralized control and standardization with decentralized speed and flexibility.

  • Drive adoption, engagement, and collaboration of data governance and MDM initiatives; partner cross-functionally to define data ownership and stewardship.

  • Create and own training programs to ensure users understand data standards, their specific role in meeting them, and how they can use the data to inform their decisions.

  • Maintain a central data dictionary to help people navigate the data universe available to them.

  • Enable data teams to implement standard methodologies for collecting data sets, data lineage, and other key areas of data management.

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient. Must have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to understand stakeholder pain points, and the ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and realistic solutions and recommendations. Must have a demonstrated ability to translate strategy into action, excellent technical skills, and an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way and to orchestrate solutions to resolve issues and mitigate risks.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 8+ years of experience in data governance, MDM, data management, or related technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Data Governance & MDM projects.

  • Extensive experience working with stakeholders to build Data Governance & MDM community of practice.

  • Experience with data exploration and profiling like Python and SQL.

  • Data-related certifications and/or degrees preferred.

  • Awareness of regulatory impacts to data in the life sciences business, such as GxP.

  • Knowledge of Data Governance & MDM platforms as they apply to the enterprise data architecture.

  • Experience with a variety of business intelligence and analytical software package (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, etc.).

  • Ability to communicate persuasively and concisely across different functional audiences, at varying levels of seniority.

  • Ability to deliver fast, show quick wins, and have the big picture in mind.

  • Knowledge of agile methods and delivery techniques.

  • Ability to work with external vendors and hold them accountable.

  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and make quick decisions.
