Job Title: Systems Engineer

Job Description: Systems Engineer will be responsible for supporting/participating in design, assessing, reviewing, implementing, maintaining documentation, and brainstorming system configurations for unmanned underwater vehicles (UUV). The Systems Engineer will work collaboratively with electrical, mechanical, software and project engineering teams to ensure systems effectively to meet customer requirements, manage requirements, breakdown and/or derive requirements, including modeling of systems and subsystems

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with internal electrical, mechanical, software and project teams as well as other system engineers to achieve intelligent designs which meet customer requirements.

  • Provide recommendations and forward thinking for effective and intelligent system/subsystem design.

  • Strong customer service focus and experience working with government customers.

  • Ability to leverage defense and underwater vehicle experience to improve L3Harris vehicle designs.

  • Strong CAM/Lead Experience

  • Strong interest and curiousity in new technologies and their applications related to UUVs.

  • Coordinate system level requirements internally and among subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Guides and directs system development and design synthesis of complex electronic systems

  • Leads system requirements definition, flow down and traceability

  • Work with other engineers and other departments to ensure that technical contractual obligations are fulfilled.

  • Ensure adherence to Quality Systems Manual and applicable Standard Work Instructions.

  • Adhere to budget and schedule commitments.

  • Support the design and development of circuits and subsystems for multidisciplinary products applications.

  • Perform engineering design analysis to establish validity of designs.

  • Prepare and review design documentation inaccordance with contract requirements and/or internal standards.

  • Support the assembly and integration of products/systems

  • Draft technical performance specifications and assist Purchasing Department with procurement of items as necessary

  • Design or specify test procedures and test equipment and provide technical assistance to Technical Specialist or test personnel during testing of prototype and production hardware.

  • Support Production Floor for system integration and test

  • Conduct or coordinate system cascade analyses and trade studies and complex design risk trade-off analysis.

  • Assist in design reviews of new or existing designs prepare/present complex internal and external design reviews.

  • Successful candidates meet eligibility requirements to access US classified information

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Software used: Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint, Outlook E-mail

  • Technical Software Used: Mathcad, MATLAB, SysCalc

  • The use of safety equipment (PPE) is required in designated areas

  • Capable of traveling domestically and internationally (< 10%)

Qualifications: (refer to Career Framework)

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Systems Engineering or relevant Engineering discipline

  • 5-8 years of experience with Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline outlined above

  • 3-6 years of experience with a Master’s Degree in Engineering discipline outlined above

  • 0-3 years of experience with PhD or JD in Engineering discipline outlined above

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience with requirements management/traceability

  • Demonstrated experience in managing system budgets (SWAP etc.)

  • Experience in models based systems engineering (MBSE)

  • Experience in writing development plans and technical proposals

  • Experience in preparing for, and participating in, DoD Design Reviews

  • Cost Account Manager Experience

  • Experience with the DoD design process (SRR/SFR. PDR. CDR Deliverables)

  • Ability to oversee and coordinate design deliverables from other individual contributors
