Town of Falmouth IT Director in Falmouth, Massachusetts

The Town of Falmouth, population 30,000 (100,000 during tourist season), is currently accepting applications for an IT Director. The Information Technology Dept. is a full-service department supporting all town departments (except schools) and all information systems including hardware (400 PCs,) networks (16 buildings), peripherals, software applications, and telephone. This key management position is responsible for providing leadership, vision, and hands on technical expertise to the Town of Falmouth operations in the area of Information Technology. Plans, organizes, and directs the IT Department to deliver effective information systems to support town operations. Scope of responsibilities includes maintaining and upgrading existing systems; improving utilization of existing applications through staff training and support; assessing unmet information system needs and delivering solutions to meet said needs. Education Bachelor's Degree in computer science, accounting, business or a related field; Master's Degree preferred; seven years of progressively responsible experience in information technology environment of similar scope; at least one year of significant supervisory experience. Work Environment Work is performed in office conditions; the employee is periodically required to travel to other buildings and sites; required to work outside of normal business hours to attend meetings and respond to system problems. The employee has working relationships with all town departments and the school department. The employee has access to town-wide information, including department personnel records, bid documents, and legal proceedings. Consequences of errors in judgment could be the delay or loss of service, damage to equipment including the integrity of town financial and report data, monetary loss, and legal repercussions.
