DRS Naval Power Systems (NPS)a multi-site operation responsible for $350 million of revenue with locations in Milwaukee, WI, Danbury, CT, Fitchburg, MA, and High Ridge, MO with an employee base of approximately 900 employees. Position Summary

Manage and direct the daily execution of contract requirements for the Quality Department to assure that cost, schedules and performance goals are met. Participate in all meetings and for the integrated product team (kick-off through project close). Provide interface, communication and coordination with internal customers on matters pertaining to existing Quality deliverables and status on Quality activities. Responsibilities are conducted under the guidance of Director of Quality.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the daily execution of contract requirements for the Quality Department to assure that cost, schedules and performance goals are met.

  • Review program plans and identify inconsistencies

  • Track project studies, plans, actions items, take minutes.

  • Participate and provide inputs for all meetings and for the integrated product team (kick-off through project close)

  • Provide interface, communication and coordination with internal customers on matters pertaining to existing Quality deliverables and status on Quality activities.

  • Represent Quality management as needed for program reviews, meetings, seminars, etc.

  • Develop and implement plans and schedules to execute Quality deliverables.

  • Control budgets for labor, material, travel and purchased services for the Quality Department.

  • Monitor, track, and report Quality status for project deliverables to senior management.

  • Formally identify, assess, monitor and mitigate risk throughout the life cycle of the assigned project.

  • Develop and implement corrective action plans when deviations from budgets and/or schedules are evident.

  • Seek senior management assistance in resolving schedule and budget problems as they arise

  • Perform variance analysis of schedule and cost on a formal and informal basis and present them to senior management

  • Coordinate with other departments on resolution of scheduling issues and conflicts

  • Assures communication and cooperation between Quality and other departments in regards to the IMS

  • Create program documentation, generate formal review documentation and participate in system and program reviews.

  • Support the development of all types of documents and reports by developing and updating graphics presentations to improve the quality and enhance the usability of these documents.

  • Assure a timely closeout of completed programs to ensure that all obligations are satisfied and program documentation is properly recorded.

  • Understand and develop leading verses lagging indicators.

  • Gather, analyze, and compose technical information.

  • Develop and understand principles of program planning.

  • Understand lean and process improvement principles (i.e.: Lean Six Sigma)

  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Management or related technical field, or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years of directly related quality experience

  • Proficient technical expertise and application domain knowledge

  • ASQ certification or Black Belt preferred Proficient with ISO Standards, 6 Sigma tools, Statistics

  • Ability to understand military specifications and to read blue prints

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills

  • Ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action

  • Permanent US Citizenship status and ability to meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment
