Staples Senior Data Engineer in Framingham, Massachusetts
Description Job Summary
We are seeking experienced engineers with a desire to work in the e-commerce problem space, building data driven application platforms that directly impact Staples customers.
You will join a team of engineers and data scientists and work alongside them on machine learning problems like recommendation systems, promotion optimization, and customer segmentation.
Key responsibilities will include building reliable data flows and automated service pipelines to bring millions of customers a personalized experienced on a high traffic, high revenue website.
You will leverage a combination of internal tools and cloud services to build new features within a scalable big data infrastructure and microservice architecture. Within an Agile development methodology, this is an opportunity to consistently engineer new designs and features that quickly reach production.
You will build the engineering capabilities that empower data scientists to experiment with new model approaches, and then together you will design and implement the next iteration for success.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
B.S. degree in Computer Science, similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience
3 years building large-scale ETL processes (both SQL/NoSQL approaches)
3 years developing and supporting data driven web applications
Solid Linux and Hadoop proficiency
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Interested working in the e-commerce and data science problem domain
Advanced degree/education in Computer Science or similar technical field
5+ years backend experience with microservices and an emphasis on big data
Experience with cloud services and distributed architectures
Knowledge of machine learning and feature engineering
Experience with our stack (Java/Python, Kafka, Apache Spark, HIVE, Parquet)
