Staples Senior Director, eCommerce Engineering in Framingham, Massachusetts
This individual will partner with both the business and technical teams to innovate and deliver new features and enhancements for the Global ecommerce platform. This position focuses on providing eCommerce and related technology expertise and thought leadership on design, architecture, and platform build out of the customer facing/on-line support business solutions. Main areas of focus for this role are centered on developing micro services for eCommerce platform, identity and access management services, and migrating on-premise applications to public cloud.
This position leads managers and engineers and interacts with other cross functional teams like Product Management, Project Management, and Operations teams etc. to develop innovative solutions that meet eCommerce market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to development goals and principles.
Provide architectural strategy and guidance to business and product owners during the initial brainstorming sessions
Accountable for all activities and results of a broad functional area or multiple smaller functions
Ensures that performance standards are realistically set and attained
Provides leadership and direction and recommends strategy for area managed. Recommends course of action to VP for approval on matters affecting the organization managed
Establishes organizational procedures and plans, consistent with company policy
Requires cross-functional relationships, communication and negotiation. Organizational awareness to effect results by maneuvering through appropriate organization channels
Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the functional area, business strategies and the company' s goals in addition to industry knowledge
Champion the platform strategy in moving applications from legacy systems into open source technologies in the cloud
Build highly reliable, scalable micro services that can support many businesses/customers in a cross-channel/cross-device environment
Strong technical depth and vision for ecommerce into developing the next generation platforms for scalability/reliability
Focus on Innovation and how to enable/motivate the team in bringing in tech focus and experimenting ideas
Build a strong technology organization by hiring the top talent and focus on individual growth
Practices strategic and transformational leadership while actively molding culture
Spends 30% of their time developing people and their team
15+ years’ experience in a related field or Master’s degree & 12 years’ experience in a related field
10+ years’ experience building and leading a high performing organization.
5+ years of hands-on technical experience
5+ years of financial responsibility against a sizeable budget.
Strong analytical, data-driven decision making and problem solving skills, with attention to details
Ability to navigate large organizations, develop strong business partner relationships and build network
Outstanding influencing, communication and presentation skills
Demonstrated success in working within cross functional teams and effective project management and analytical/decision-making skills
Open source technologies, public/private cloud technologies
Self-starter, high-energy, with ability to execute on business objectives
Strong teamwork and inter-personal skills
