Philips Senior Firmware Engineer in Framingham, Massachusetts

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Develop personal emergency response service wearable medical devices across sensors, microprocessor, Wi-Fi, GPS and Cell module and other RF components. This engineer may also be evaluating third party medical devices and IOT devices, and integrating solutions into the PERS service system of Philips Lifeline.

You are responsible for

  • Define, develop and document engineering requirements for firmware/software design of lifeline products, based on user requirements and change requests as appropriate.

  • Support in design and development of firmware architecture.

  • Develop detailed design for firmware, document and support in implementation of detailed design to meet product requirements and commercial requirements for medical devices.

  • Testing device firmware/hardware and fixing bugs.

  • Automate firmware smoke test, build and release process.

  • Support formal Verification & Validation for product launch.

  • Firmware update, daily regression test, and manage bug-tracking tool (Jira).

  • Provide technical support to sustaining products and field issue investigation.

You are a part of

A small but mighty team that develops the Philips Lilfeline product, which is an emergency response service. We are looking for someone who is eager to work hard and grow your career. The successful candidate shall have hands-on experience in embedded device design, familiar firmware version control and bug tracking tools. The candidate shall have experience working with teams for product development. The engineer will also help on testing hardware device and verifying firmware implementations. This engineer will have opportunity to develop personal emergency response service wearable medical devices across sensors, microprocessor, Wi-Fi, GPS and Cell module and other RF components. This engineer may also be evaluating third party medical devices and IOT devices, and integrating solutions into the PERS service system of Philips Lifeline.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related science area

  • 8+ years of embedded product development experience

  • Capable of implementing detailed embedded design and finding technical solution to meet product requirement with minimum guidance.

  • Experience developing embedded system using real-time OS and lower power MCU (ARM, MSP430 preferred)

  • Experience in C, C++ and Python for development and scripting

  • Experience in unit test, hardware integration test and debugging, and test automation

  • Familiar with version control tool and bug tracking tool (Jira)

  • Good trouble shooting, communication, and coordination skills

  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
