How will you make an impact?
The successful applicant will be expected to initiate and perform exploratory research of new analytical technologies that could lead to the development of innovative products to fulfill the strategic goals of the Company. The applicant will work individually as well as with other senior Scientists and Engineers to craft and conduct proof of principle tests, work on the design and development of new products and key components related to mass spectrometry.
What will you do?
This is a hands-on position requiring the ability to visualize and build complex hardware, attention to detail, excellent planning skills, and ability to present and interpret the data. Expertise in Mass Spectrometry, and knowledge and familiarity with use of other advanced detection is required. Our products are considered state of the art and we utilize the newest technology to continuously evolve our product line.
Initiate, plan, set up and execute laboratory testing and research programs specific to the advancement of mass spectrometry technologies, including but not limited to ionization technologies.
Design of mass spectrometer assemblies, to include ion optical modelling and related theoretical calculations and design work. Investigation of new mass spectrometer technologies.
Ability to work on complex, highly technical design challenges within a cross-disciplinary R&D group
Develop mathematical models, conduct statistical data analysis, prepare research reports and pursue creation of intellectual property
- Ph.D. degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mechanics, or related Engineering discipline including Chemical Engineering etc.
5 years of experience in advanced instrumentation research and development.
Minimum of two (2) years experience in mass spectrometry such as ionization technology
Experience in the design of experiments (DOE) preferred
Experience with MATLAB, C/C++, ANSYS, COMSOL, SIMION, CPO and/or other simulation tools
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Practical abilities in the operation, construction and preferably the design of scientific instrumentation
Detailed knowledge of mass spectrometer technologies
Knowledge of ion or electrical beam optical systems
Flexibility and resourcefulness in working in a highly dynamic and demanding environment
Self-motivated with the ability to provide consistent results
Have strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines effectively
Excellent oral and written communication, documentation and presentation skills
