In Quality Engineering we play a central role by developing, implementing as well as maintaining technical quality assurance and control systems. We look for ways to improve the inspection, verification and validation of our finished products. Our team defines strategy – not to mention governance – for the implementation of quality standards and methodology. In addition to participating in the review of engineering designs, we assist customers or engineers in gathering and analyzing data.
Primary responsibility is to find and fix hardware problems affecting Dell-EMC customers
Research, evaluate, develop, or implement new processes, methods, or test plans
Drive corrective action to eliminate or limit exposure to issues
Represent the organization on project teams
Document work and results
Provide feedback to the next generations of hardware based on lessons learned from the field experience
Typically requires 5+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3+ years with a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent experience
General knowledge and application of hardware engineering concepts
General knowledge of various firmware, software and operating systems environments
Program management skills
Ability to think critically and work independently or as part of a cross-functional team
Understanding of a business environment
Communication and presentation skill
Knowledge of Systems Engineering and Six-Sigma methods are desired, but not required
Knowledge of manufacturing production environments is desired, but not required
Knowledge of reliability theory and methods are desired, but not required

Your primary purpose will be to find and fix hardware problems affecting Dell-EMC customers. You will interface with Customer Service and Data Analytics groups to identify new issues impacting the reliability or availability (up-time) for many products. The problems must be prioritized based on the impact to either the customer or the business. You will program manage the efforts to understand the root-cause behind those problems and drive appropriate corrective actions through various analytical and technical methods. The work will encompass multiple areas of engineering including data analytics, electronic design, mechanical design, software design, test-process development, or other related fields. The work will not include directly interacting with customer or addressing live customer problems. You will; however, typically interact with many parts of the business: Hardware Design Engineering, Software Development, Software Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Base Engineering. You will gain system-level expertise by working these critical problems diving deep into how the systems operate, understanding the various customers use-cases, and how Dell-EMC services them in in the field.
