Massachusetts Employer Data Center Technician in Lawrence, Massachusetts

Several openings for Data Center Technician RESPONSIBILITIES: Receiving, tracking, auditing, testing and reporting of all networking equipment and/or data bearing devices (DBD's) received within the secure data center area or secure data erasure lab. This includes, but is not limited to, the setup and configuration of servers within PXE environment for asset identification, testing, data-erasure and reporting. The qualified candidate will possess the technical ability to learn warehouse management software, data erasure software and enterprise data erasure hardware. They will also possess the ability to understand, diagnose and resolve basic networking and computer issues. Responsible, when required, to travel to corporate clients to provide onsite data destruction services and takeout activities which include but are not limited to; face-to-face customer interaction, setup of required equipment, accurate recording of data bearing devices, physical destruction of these data bearing devices through approved methodologies which include shredding, degaussing and punching in a safe and controlled manner utilizing all required personal protective equipment (PPE). Lifting, palletizing and securing varying types of enterprise equipment for safe and secure transport. Responsible for activities within operations which may include unloading and loading of trucks, moving and weighing pallets/equipment, sorting material, completing inventories, pulling orders, fulfilling orders, auditing equipment, repairing assets and de-manufacturing of computer equipment. Successful data center technicians are self-driven and work effectively with minimal supervision. DUTIES / ACTIVITIES: Setup and configure computers, laptops, servers and enterprise equipment in a PXE environment Data Center Technicians are in charge of running servers, switches, routers, monitors, and computer networking Technically troubleshoot situations as they arise Provide technical reports as needed by management Safely operate tools needed in performing tasks at hand Maintain a clean and safe work area Data Center Technicians are required to maintain accurate inventory of tools, equipment, and network devices Follow established safety processes and procedures Ensure security and customer brand protection at all times Ability to be trained to operate forklift and pallet jacks Other responsibilities and duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency with computer usage, MS Office and ability to learn new software applications Comprehensive knowledge of internet, data security and data entry Comprehensive knowledge of computer related equipment Strong organization skills and attention to detail Possess and apply a working knowledge and understanding of inventory tracking systems. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required independently and routinely Ability to stand for an extended period of time Perform additional duties when assigned Travel will be required when necessary Ability to perform manual tasks which are repetitive in nature Manual dexterity required for operating tools and equipment EDUCATION: High School Diploma minimum RELATIONSHIPS: Internal Contacts: Works with colleagues, management and non-managers throughout the organization. SUPERVISION: Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager and as needed by executive management
