Job Description Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining our Quality Management System. The Quality Engineer will act as a focal point for Quality within the group and as a technical liaison for all matters relating to quality of produced goods and new design and development for our discrete and hybrid product lines.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Support and maintain ISO9001/AS9100 QMS with continual improvement
Responsible to maintain and grow MIL-PRF-19500 and MIL-PRF-38534 military certifications and product qualifications
Work with R&D and Manufacturing Engineers on qualification of new and modified designs
Interface with internal parties and external parties (engineering groups, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, government entities and customers) to resolve quality issues, complete comprehensive corrective actions and drive quality improvement
Work with the manufacturing teams to solve in-house quality concerns, reviews of nonconforming product, recommend disposition
Investigate and resolve customer facing quality problems using tools such as 8D reporting, 5 Why analysis etc.; prepare and facilitate customer and internal corrective actions
Liaison with external auditors and customers
Provide comprehensive metric and technical reporting to company management on internal quality performance, report and track any significantnon-conformances from quality standards, and provide recommendations for improvement and corrective action
Establish and present regular training for employees on quality issues and to encourage each employee to perform quality control as a part of their operation
Establish and maintain effective communication and work relationships within the department, the group, the Corporation and the community; and maintain the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities
Utilize engineering skills, quick learning, and self-motivation to succeed in a fast-paced environment
Other duties may be assigned
Requirements
Required Qualifications
B.S. in Electrical Science or B.S.E.E. required
Minimum 7 years of experience as a Quality Engineer (preferred with knowledge of the discrete MIL-PRF-19500 and hybrid MIL-PRF-38534 device industry and hands-on experience)
Strong experience with maintaining Quality Management System per ISO9001/AS9100
Experience in Design Control elements, Design History Files, creating Design Validation and verification protocols and reports
Experience in investigations, risk assessments and associated CAPA activities, SPC, six sigma, 8D, DOE, root cause analysis, FMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, FAI – with internal and external customers
Detail oriented and critical thinker characteristics are required
Prefer experience with military and industry standards: MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-750, ISO9001, AS9100, AS9102
Experience with manufacturing system, Microsoft Dynamics Axapta preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office for detailed metric and technical reports / presentations
Proven experience developing and utilizing metrics and analytics to analyze and resolve quality issues with ability to defineproblems, collect data, establishfacts,and draw conclusions
Strong oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with individuals of all levels
This position requires travel of 0-10%
