The Embedded and Open Systems Group provides solutions to meet a wide range of defense-related needs spanning from embedded processors to commercial cloud environments. One key mission is the development and deployment of real-time embedded processing systems. We design these systems using advanced computational elements in support of applications such as radar, communications, and artificial intelligence with emphasis on high-performance hardware/software solutions. Our work in this area feeds into open architecture standards which ensures the rapid implementation of advanced capabilities and their subsequent deployment in legacy and next-generation sensor signal processing systems. An area of significant focus is the multi-layered open software architecture which enables code portability across compute platforms and provides an ecosystem for a community of developers. We succeed by participating in all program phases including system analysis, architecture definition, design, prototyping, field testing, and ultimately the transfer of our technology that provides mission critical capabilities to the warfighter.
Looking for a Software Engineering Co-op to help enhance open software architecture standards for real-time sensor control and signal processing. This software engineer will help to prototype capabilities that address challenges with implementing these standards over a wide range of applications including support for multiple simultaneous sensor streams. The individual will be part of a high performing team that defines, develops, tests, and deploys applications using this architecture.
Currently enrolled in an academic institution pursuing a BS degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or related field required.
Candidate must be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment and possess excellent oral and written communication ability.
Experience with C++/C is required
Familiarity with Linux is required
Familiarity with Python/Matlab is a plus
Familiarity with Git or other version control is a plus
Familiarity with signal processing concepts is a plus
Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
