BAE Systems FAST Labs RF, Electronics, Cyber Converged Solutions (CS) Technical Area is growing rapidly. Ranging from generation of new RF/cyber algorithms through demonstration of advanced electronic warfare capabilities in integrated systems at government ranges, CS has established itself as an industry leader in the development of cutting-edge technologies. With this growth, CS is seeking a technology development manager to help drive the strategy to an expanded future state. Through innovative R&D and customer program collaboration, your work will help enable the rapid development and fielding of effects across the RF/cyber spectrum for next generation mission support.
Our Technology Development Directors (TDD) own a portion of a product line s strategic plan by capturing and executing sponsored research programs. As a CS TDD, you will guide disruptive cyber technologies from research efforts into BAE System s Business Areas products and services. You will lead a technical team and lead the capture and execution strategic programs by being a trusted advisor to our customers working through senior researchers.
The TDD will report to the CS Technical Area Director and this position will be based in our Arlington, VA facility. Alternative location could be based in our Merrimack, NH or Burlington, MA facilities for the right candidate.
Responsibilities for this role include:
Development of the portfolio strategy to pursue R&D funding to achieve annual growth
Lead and shape captures and proposals, developing strategy to expand our existing technology baseline in alignment with the RF, Electronics, and Cyber (R3) strategy and vision.
Significant customer interaction, initiating customer contact to create new business opportunities at DoD research and development organizations such as DARPA, AFRL, ONR, ARL as well as non-traditional R&D organizations.
Collaboration across the larger BAE Systems organization to facilitate the development and transition of game-changing cyber technology
Principal Investigator for Cyber/EW programs, setting technical direction and guiding teams in executing complex research projects that regularly involving multiple technical fields
Grow the next generation of technology development managers and scientists through mentoring
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format , with time split between working onsite and remotely.
Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status and eligibility to obtain a US Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Active DoD TOP SECRET clearance and ability to obtain SCI & SAP
Experience in leading teams to solve complex technical problems
Experience in new business capture, such as proposal writing; preferred if experience leading proposal efforts
Motivated individual with strong problem-solving abilities, willingness to perform a wide variety of related tasks, and exceptional oral and written skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting technical research to large audiences
Understanding of electronic warfare, communications, SIGINT, cyber, or electronics markets as well as R&D customers
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Experience with RF hardware systems and/or software defined radios
Experience with RF software systems and common industry architectures
Experience with multiple programming and scripting languages (C, C , Matlab, Python, Bash, etc)
Experience with low-level software architectures
Embedded system vulnerability discovery and exploitation experience
Technology road map development
Demonstrated success in leading the capture of DoD R&D opportunities.
Experience executing and supervising the execution of R&D internal and external activities.
Practical understanding of product development and the DoD product development lifecycle.
Ability to build and maintain relationships within business areas and customer community.
Proven ability to lead a diverse and complex organization across multiple sites.
Ability to define, develop, and maintain critical skills in support of the business.
Highly experienced in facilitation and cross-organization communications.
Experience with resource planning, staff development, and management reporting.
Exceptional ability to allocate and assign resources to technical tasks and manage the resources toward efficient utilization.
Proven performance in management, mentoring, coaching and communication skills.
Demonstrated critical thinking skills and decision-making abilities.
Experience in reviewing and approving Basis of Estimates and proposals including assessment of associated risks and opportunities.
Technology road map development
Proven capacity to grow a team and organization around a unified vision
Demonstrated capacity to reach across disparate technical domains to create novel solutions
External communications experience (press interviews, published papers, conference presentations)
Leadership role in professional societies
Large R&D proposal capture expertise
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $143000 - $243100
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
