MIT Lincoln Laboratory Group 65--Summer Research Program Intern--Graduate, 5G Development and Analysis in Lexington, Massachusetts
The Tactical Networks Group specializes in advanced network and communications systems development, with a focus on mobile and airborne networks of the future. Tactical wireless networks differ from commercial wireless networks in the lack of infrastructure to support stable connectivity. The varied and stressing operational environment, as well as aircraft speeds and maneuverability, and platform integration provide additional challenges to communication and network systems. The Tactical Networks Group uses a combination of technical analysis, modeling, simulation, emulation, prototype development, and flight tests to develop new communication systems and evaluate and predict their performance.
The Tactical Networks Group is seeking a graduate level summer intern to contribute to research in the area of the 5G PHY layer. The intern will contribute to the development of a 5G hardware testbed and/or analysis of 5G PHY layer algorithms. As a member of our research team, the intern will have the opportunity to be engaged in the analysis of some of the most challenging problems, collaborate with Laboratory scientists and engineers, observe and apply system engineering methodologies and solutions to complex communications systems.
Skills and Requirements:
Pursuing MS, or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineer or Computer Science
Knowledge and coursework in the communication systems PHY layers required
Experience with MATLAB, software defined radio or 4G/5G is desired.
Familiarity with C/C++ required
Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
