MIT Lincoln Laboratory Operations Manager in Lexington, Massachusetts

Internet of Things devices, critical infrastructure, and sensor and communication systems all have one thing in common: they interface the digital and physical domains. The Cyber-Physical Systems Group conducts research to understand the cybersecurity implications of these physical interfaces and use the results of our research to develop prototypes that serve as pathfinders for future technological solutions.

The Cyber Physical Systems Group tackles key problems in the convergence of cybersecurity and the physical world in an interdisciplinary research and development environment. We focus on developing new capabilities in the areas of hardware security and cyber-EW for the DoD, intelligence community, and federal agencies. Key technology development thrusts include novel sensors, testbed development and instrumentation, and unconventional methods of system exploitation.

Position Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the Group to enable the successful execution of the Group's program / project portfolio at Lexington and any relevant field sites. The Operations Manager is a partner with the Group Leaders focused on the operations (IT and administrative) aspects of the program / project portfolio execution and field site management. The Operations Manager will have an equivalent level of control over program budgets as Group Leaders and program managers/leaders. The Operations Manager will maintain close contact with program sponsors, program financial POCs, and major procurement vendors.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate with Group Leaders, program managers, and IT personnel to identify local IT requirements with emphasis on special program portfolio. Manage design, implementation, and support for all aspects of provided services, including construction, expansion, and accreditation across multiple spaces and multiple sponsors.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with program sponsors with emphasis on project planning, execution requirements, and program documentation.

  • Manage development and execution of major subcontracts including drafting, reviewing and overseeing IDIQ task order execution.

  • Serve as high-level, strategic interface between the Group and the Laboratory service departments, particularly security, facilities, contracting services, to ensure group needs are being addressed timely and accurately.

  • Serve as primary point of contact between the Group and our remote field sites and extended detachments. Work routinely with site managers and staff leadership at the remote sites to facilitate operations, identify and address issues, and manage support partnerships with other groups.

  • Provide general administrative management support for special projects, conferences, major sponsor meetings, etc.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in business or related field or IT preferred, commensurate experience will be considered. 5+ years of directly related experience rquired.

  • Willingness to maintain an elevated security clearance is required.

  • Experience working with special programs at all classification levels.

  • Significant project management experience.

  • Familiarity with government security & accreditation requirements (both physical and IT).

  • Familiarity with information system security processes and IT management tools.
