Job Description

Solidus is searching for a Rapid Prototyping and Development Software Engineer.

The engineer will have the following responsibilities:

  • Support all phases of the lifecycle from initial planning, through design, development, test, release, and end-user support

  • Support rapid prototype development, demonstration, and refinement

  • Write stable, efficient, and scalable code with automated tests

  • Design and implement web-based user interfaces, and primarily client-side components

  • Initial specific tasks may include:

  • Design and develop dashboard interfaces using open source frameworks built upon Angular

  • Develop reports, charts, and graphs in a thin-client application to support display of advanced analytics

  • Develop and extend queries to back-end MongoDB, and other data sources in support of reports and other interfaces

  • Perform data migration and management activities to facilitate ETL of data from various sources into MongoDB

  • Perform NoSQL and RDBMS database administration

  • Perform web server configuration and manage deployments

  • Develop and extend build and deployment infrastructure


  • US Citizen and Able to Obtain a Secret Security Clearance

  • BS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering plus minimum of 3 years experience; or MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering plus minimum of 5 years experience

The position requires a software engineering focused on client-side web application development. Specifically:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience building and maintaining production software

  • Experience with all phases of the software development life cycle

  • Extensive knowledge of client and server side JavaScript and relevant libraries

  • Strong understanding of HTML and CSS

  • Exposure to Typescript

  • Strong proficiency in the Angular web application framework

  • Familiarity with JavaScript build, test, and packaging tools (e.g. npm, jasmine, karma, webpack)

  • Ability to design and manage web application deployments and perform basic server administration (e.g. Apache HTTP, Tomcat, and/or Jetty)

  • Strong proficiency in Linux with basic understanding of systems configuration, management, and administration

Skills Preferred:

  • Experience with MongoDB: administration, scripting for ETL tasks, and query language

  • Experience with SQL and developing RDBMS-based applications

  • Proficiency in Java

  • Experience with Elasticsearch

  • Experience with stream-based processing and relevant frameworks (e.g. Spark, Kafka)

  • Framiliarity with Containerization (e.g. Docker, kubernetes, and/or OpenStack)

  • Experience designing and developing advanced visualizations for complex data sets

  • Interest in design and development of complex web-based user interfaces
