MIT Lincoln Laboratory System Integration and Test Engineer (Associate Staff) 1 in Lexington, Massachusetts

The Advanced RF Techniques and Systems Group innovates and demonstrates novel algorithms and architectures to impact missions covering the RF electromagnetic spectrum.

We collaborate with academia, industry, and the government to demonstrate rigorous solutions to the most important defense problems in wireless communications and sensing. We develop and prototype new techniques for digital signal processing and machine learning to enable multi-function wideband systems. We also apply new multi-channel, multi-beam, multi-function RF aperture technologies and push the boundaries of high-performance computing to address the most relevant technology problems unique to government spectrum operations.

The Position:

The Group is seeking creative and enthusiastic candidates to test, integrate, and demonstrate novel RF system approaches in hardware and real-time software in lab, vehicle, and flight environments.

Day to Day Activities Include:

  • Software and hardware prototyping and test activities

  • Test documentation and planning

  • Oversight of lab environment setup and configuration

  • Participation in field experimentation, lab and field data collection, and post-experiment analysis.

Required Skills:

  • M.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field

  • Experience with common RF and digital test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, etc…)

  • Exposure to and/or coursework in software development and scripting (e.g. Python, Matlab, etc…)

  • Exposure to test planning and execution of field experiments

  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team and set priorities

  • Strong problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with testing RF communications systems

  • Experience in test planning and overseeing execution of field experiments

  • Experience testing FPGA-based hardware designs and/or software for C++ with real-time Linux operating systems

This position will include a mixture of on-site, travel, and remote work as needed to support integration and field events.
