Wingbrace LLC Senior Systems Engineer 1 in Lincoln, Massachusetts
The Wingbrace Engineering Technologies Department is charged with identifying, developing, and applying new technologies that can address the Government's most challenging software and systems engineering problems.
This is an opportunity for experienced systems engineer who is highly motivated, innovative, and self-directed. This position provides challenging opportunities to apply and expand one’s systems architecture experience and modeling & analytical skills. Specific areas of responsibility include working with an Air Force Chief Architect at Hanscom Airforce Base and the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC).
Day to day responsibilities
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will have the opportunity to leverage and grow your engineering expertise by:
Leveraging your experience as a Systems engineer to architect data exchange and tech stack requirements in the SparX Enterprise Architecture tool. The process of architecture is conveyed through concepts and relationships in a way that is understandable to a consumer.
Working with the Modeling and Simulation team, Chief Architect and AFGSC Chief Scientist team, we are to develop representations of components within an enterprise of enterprises of systems of systems with interdependencies, assumptions and standards. As an example, we develop the representation of platform integration standards and representation of data exchanges and data flows. As we attempt, in our Technical Vision, to abstract away (vs hard code) physical systems and interfaces, we have the opportunity to better describe the as-is, Operational Baseline, the near-term (within the FYDP) Implementation Baseline (IB) changes, and set a foundation for many different future approaches to achieve mission success.
Constructing, coordinating, and iterating architecture views, and viewpoints, with operational capability owners, capability developers, and capability planners. Using a tool like SparX Enterprise Architect and Cameo Enterprise Architect will make it easier to develop and socialize the representation of parts of the systems for subsequent use in analysis, modeling, or a means to leverage configuration management processes and communicate concepts and recommendations to deliver minor efficiencies to major changes in ways to operate and leap frog sustained progress. You will also work as part of the Architecture committee to support the Chief Architect and other members.
Communicating better ideas and alternatives is part of the deliverables.
Modeling architectures of complex systems using the best-in-class digital engineering modeling notations (SysML, UPDM, UML, DoDAF, MODAF)
Programming system parametrics and simulating system performance characteristics using tools like MATLAB and OpenModelica
Supporting development, configuration management, and maintenance (defect resolution + enhancements) of MBSE artifacts, model interfaces and modeling tool updates for multiple baselines through full lifecycle of product development--architecture and design, through integration, test, acceptance and field support
Assisting with the identification of mission requirements, assurance risks, impacts, and artifact generation for compliance
Supporting analysis and developing actions to address gaps
Supporting requirements management, interface management and architecture change management processes using best-of-breed tools like Rational DOORS and Siemens Teamcenter
Developing and driving model taxonomy and ontology consensus with stakeholders
Estimating, planning, scheduling, and executing data engineering activities
Providing Engineering support for proposal efforts
Organizing work activities, monitoring and mentor teammates, clients in the development of modeling artifacts
Facilitating and assisting with stakeholder communications, responses to taskers, participation in review boards, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), briefing external organizations and preparing technical assessments (e.g. trade-offs and gap analysis)
Assisting with preparing status reports and transferring knowledge to Government clients
Position will require work in a secure environment 4-5 days a week
Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a US DoD clearance within first year of employment.
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or any bachelor’s degree with demonstrable experience in systems development
2-5 years of experience with product development or systems engineering and integration projects
Familiarity with a Model-Based Systems and Software Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect, Cameo Enterprise Archiect or Rational Rhapsody
Experience in Model Based Engineering to include MBE, MBSE, MDA, MDD, MDE.
Experience developing and documenting applications design using Unified Modeling Language (UML) or Systems Modeling Language (SysML)
Experience with Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
Demonstrated proficiency and strength in verbal, written, presentation, and communications skills for developing and delivering technical presentations.
Referenceable project-based experience in a team environment
