What you’ll be doing...
Lead design, develop and enhance the tools of the API ecosystem supporting subscription, discovery and publication of APIs at Verizon for 10k+ internal developers and 10s of thousands of external developing partners from outside Verizon.
Create new practices/tools needed to grow and maintain an active, living community around OneAPI and its first of its kind endeavor, intended to help advance the vision for a unified developer portal here at Verizon.
Design, build, maintain and support the Apigee infrastructurePlatform design, implementation and operations for mission critical enterprise applications.
Establish the model for Platform As A Service (PAAS) providing automated infrastructure / maintenance tasks which foster PaaS.
Position the API Gateway in partnership with Architecture and the Cloud Engineering teams.
Design and Architect complex customer API Gateway solutions.
Lead analytical and consulting sessions to solve technical problems faced by the application teams trying to onboard to Apigee.
Lead Capacity Planning and Management activities to ensure that the Apigee platform will be able to handle additional transactions in the future.
Lead troubleshooting/root cause analysis sessions to understand what causes particular issues in Production and come up with solutions that will prevent them from happening in the future.
Build relationships with the client application teams to understand their business needs and requirements for the Apigee Platform and also coach them on how to use the platform to the fullest.
Mentor Junior Engineers to acquire needed knowledge and experience.

You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Two or more years of experience supporting API gateway.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Eight or more years of IT experience.
Two or more years of experience supporting Apigee as a Platform.
Knowledge on Policy creation/Template development and operational support within Apigee.
Knowledge of AWS Cloud Architecture, Cloud Security; Cloud platforms.
Experience in Infrastructure automation and build/maintenance for AWS (AWS Certified) and API Gateway, Gateway setup and Oauth configuration.
Experience with Linux operating systems, including advanced shell command line for performance and network troubleshooting and scripting languages such as Perl, Python, Shell.
Troubleshooting skills in the API Management and Gateway space (Mainly Apigee).
Experience with Ansible, CICD Tools (Jenkins, Gitlab).
Understanding of WSDL/SOAP Web Services, REST API and JSON.
Experience with Apigee API design, development, and testing including creating SWAGGER/Open API specs.
Knowledge of existing API Testing Tools (Postman, SoapUI, or any equivalent tools).
Experience with high availability, load balancing and failover configurations.
Experience in designing and implementing API platforms for high traffic API solutions.
Experience applying security, throttling, OAuth 2.0, TLS, certificates, KeyStore, and Trust store.
Experience with Apigee Management APIs and integration to the enterprise systems including Infrastructure & Application monitoring, Approval, Authorization and Authentication, Logging, and Continuous. integration/Continuous Deploy (CI/CD), and Developer Portal, etc.
Experience with Cassandra and Zookeeper.
Knowledge of Systems and Networking – TCP and IP, Switching, Routing, Firewalls, Load Balancing.
Experience with Cloud Formations Templates/Implementations.
Experience implementing Platform AS A Service (PAAS).
Experience with monitoring and reporting tools like Splunk, NewRelic, Cloudwatch and/or any other monitoring tools.
Working experience in an Agile environment.
Experience with networking protocols and technology: TCP/IP, SMTP, FTP, HTTP, DNS, WAN, LAN, VPN, LDAP, Internet and Intranet.
