Our client is working on an initiative to significantly extend the functionality of their primary data collections Student Information System (SIMS), Student Course Schedule (SCS), Educator Personnel Information Management System (EPIMS) and School Safety Discipline Report (SSDR) to include new functionality around their real-time Student Interoperability Framework (SIF) which is used to report data from school districts for each of these systems via automated XML data transfers.We are seeking a senior .Net software developer to add to the team.
This person will be responsible for delivering code for a web based software development project. This position will work with the project team to design and develop .Net application code using industry standard practices and tools.
This is a lean and agile project. The ideal candidate can work in all tiers of the architecture, and has experience with .Net and SQL Server, three-tiered applications. They will also have experience in all phases of software development – design, development, unit test, QA test support and defect remediation.
The senior .Net software developer is responsible for collaborating with the EOE/DESE Organization, Project Managers, Architect, Business Analysts, and Quality Assurance, in the process of creating software deliverables and artifacts.
As a member of the team, you must adhere to the organization’s methodologies and standards, and propose improvements based on software development best practices.
Daily usage of the following tools: Visual Studio 2017, SQL Server Management Studio, Oracle SQL Developer, TFS
Participation in full software development lifecycle including requirements analysis and design, working closely with analyst, design and QA personnel
Strong knowledge in 3 tier Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
Solid understanding of design patterns
Ability to work in a fast-paced cross-functional team environment
Proactively raise issues and offer solutions.
Participate in daily scrum meeting to discuss current tasks and status.
Submit weekly status reports.
Education and Experience Level
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in software engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
Thorough knowledge of tools and processes used in the Software Development Lifecycle Process.
Proven track record working on large-scale projects with diverse stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
10+ years of experience as a multi-tier full stack .Net software developer, VB.Net is a plus.
10+ years of experience hands-on knowledge of SQL Server
5+ years MVC, JQuery, and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
Experience with Agile Scrum methodologies
Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn
Excellent communication & documentation skills.
Experience with K-12 Education systems and School Interoperability Framework (SIF) is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to adjust to changing situations to address emergencies, changes, or production requirements.
Sensitivity to interpersonal, organizational and political challenges, and how to navigate them effectively.
Ability to work independently and in an agile manner.
Ability to switch focus based on changing priorities.
