Data Science Manager – Marlborough, MA
Job Summary:
This position is for a hands-on Data Scientist who is as excited to create critical dashboards and quick ad hoc analyses as they are to run a regression model. It requires a person who is comfortable being neck-deep in data, and understands that complex models come after a deep understanding of the data and the business. Specifically, the person in this position will help us define and build complex dashboards which will lead to insights and more complex analyses. They will help us build business cases for big data technologies. They will be in constant contact with our business partners, ensuring their questions are answered accurately with the best data driven answers we can provide. The Data Scientist will teach, mentor and provide an open work environment for everyone on our team. They will build a strong partnership with IT and lead/support the organization in defining data science best practices in logistics.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Contributes to the definition of our overall TJX data strategy. Converts the data vision to actionable steps to move our data strategy forward
Identifies new data that should be collected and analyzed that would contribute to operational and business insights and identify trends
Identifies opportunities for data cleansing, organizing, and formatting to make information more consumable
Mines supply chain data to drive business optimization and improvement
Coordinates with various functional teams to develop models and monitor outcomes
Develops processes and tools to analyze model performance and data accuracy
Identifies more efficient handling of data and builds tools to drive faster data outputs for analysis
Leverages collection, analysis, and interpretation of large data sets to solve operational, financial, or service supply chain challenges
Minimal Skills / Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree Required (Preferred in Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, etc.)
Financial and statistical acumen
Advanced Analytical skills
Experience with SQL
Experience with Python or/and R
Statistical techniques such as regression, hypothesis testing, multivariate analysis
Experience with machine learning
Strong coding skills and knowledge in data structure & algorithms
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Detail oriented, comfortable digging into code and working with imperfect data sets
Excellent communication skills and a “can do” attitude are a must
PREFRRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters Degree (Math, Science, Statistics, Engineering, IT, etc)
Demonstrated application of advanced techniques in a business setting with impactful results
Logistics or retail analytics experience
Experience with Tableau or PowerBI
Real world experience with cloud based big data technologies
