Sunovion Data Scientist, Analytical Services in Marlborough, Massachusetts
Sunovion Pharmaceuticals is looking for a Data Scientist to join our Analytical Services team in Marlborough, MA.
The Data Scientist, Analytical Services, Technical Operations & Quality (TOQ) is responsible for delivering data science solutions by mining large-scale data, developing predictive modeling, and designing data interpretations through visualization tools for effective decision-making lifecycle management. In addition, the incumbent will interface across TOQ as well as other functions (IT, Analytics) to conceptualize data architecture and deploy data science solutions that meets business needs. The incumbent will also support development and implementation of simple and pragmatic training programs around the use of these analytical solutions. This individual will be expected to proactively look for ways to optimize data management, analytics, and visualization across the TOQ organization.
Develop and maintain statistical models to support TOQ such as statistical process control, multivariate analysis, and process analytics. Conceptualize and deploy data science solutions for continuous improvement.
Manage and implement operational metrics and dashboard of contract laboratories to ensure organizational alignment on forecasting, on time reporting, investigations, etc.
Collaborate on investigations, and operational excellence initiatives (manufacturing CPV data trending), and process change assessments through data mining, statistical analysis, and visualization.
Leverage broader current methodology, software, and data development from the data science community to identify emerging opportunities and capabilities.
Communicate and visualize the output of analyses, including both written and verbal communication, to business leaders and non-technical audiences.
Partner with functions across TOQ as well as other functions (Regulatory, IT, Commercial, Finance) to ensure compliant and scalable processes.
Lead by demonstrating exceptional collaboration. Influence across the matrix without direct authority.
Champion innovation by leveraging best-in-class data and technology capabilities that can be implemented within the organization with an eye towards operational excellence and efficiency.
Partners closely with Systems Lead for TOQ.

Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required:
Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in a computational and quantitative discipline (e.g. data science, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or informatics).
0-5 years academic/industry experience in applying data science to solve problems in laboratory or manufacturing sites.
Knowledge of Microsoft tools (Excel, SharePoint, etc.). Familiarity with probability distributions, sampling methods, and other statistical concepts.
Ability to define and propose meaningful data-driven solutions, complete deliverables, and translate business questions to analytically justified actions/solutions to non-technical colleagues.
Excellent conceptual & analytical thinking, the drive to seek information, and have the confidence & initiative to implement the solution with high attention to details.
Self-directed, accomplishment-driven individual with a strong sense of passion and urgency who can work both independently and in a cross-functional team environment.
Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Ability to build strong relationships, lead and influence across large, complex organizations to drive alignment and change where the resources and decisions are outside of the leaders direct reporting line.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail.
Willingness to grow within group and company (e.g., taking on higher levels of responsibility, rapport building with other groups), to learn new skills and to teach these skills to others when required.
Working knowledge of cGMP requirements and FDA, USP and ICH guidelines as they relate to laboratory techniques, experimental design, drug development process, and drug testing requirements is preferred.
