American Tower Principal Business Analyst in Marlborough, Massachusetts

SUMMARY:

With an in depth understanding of the Company’s business and IT strategies, the Principal Business Analyst consults with and leads business and IT team members on complex initiatives and issues. The incumbent works in a global, cross-functional environment and designs, implements, and modifies multiple custom or packaged applications and reporting tools to achieve strategic goals. Using various project management frameworks, the Principal Business Analyst identifies ways to streamline processes to improve quality and effectiveness. The Principal Business Analyst leverages IT-related best practices to deliver business solutions. Principal BAs bring expert knowledge to the design, implementation and modification of multiple custom applications, Oracle eBusiness Suite modules, consults on resolution of complex production problems and identifies ways to take full advantage of new products and new releases of current products The incumbent must be resilient and flexible in response to a rapidly growing organization with changing business needs and able to champion change.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Proactively lead the creation of a forward-thinking vision to collaboratively design cross-functional processes and solutions to global business challenges.

  • Demonstrate a full understanding of the Company’s business and IT strategies and support and lead the execution of plans to achieve them.

  • Present flexible, scalable and supportable options to stakeholders, and guide them through analysis and selection of solutions that support complex project and business objectives.

  • Proactively identify ways by which IT can add value to business teams to provide thought leadership and improve processes and effectively communicate them to key stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with, and facilitate communication between, IT and business partners and key stakeholders at various levels in order to drive change across multiple functions.

  • Stay current with trends and practices regarding both the wireless industry and technology and the impact they can have on business processes.

  • Research and demonstrate how new technologies, best practices and trends can be incorporated into business and IT processes leveraging a strong understanding of end-to-end processes.

  • Proactively estimate, plan, manage, communicate and execute essential duties with a focus on the uniqueness and complexity of each project.

  • Maintain strong, ongoing relationships with business partners, project teams and other stakeholders. Identify opportunities to forge new relationships.

  • Create or oversee the creation of clear and concise documentation throughout all project phases and activities.

  • Lead elicitation, analysis and documentation of complex requirements and business needs, utilizing various techniques such as process mapping; identify and resolve conflicting requirements and trace requirements through to solution; manage requirements to the smallest set that will provide the biggest impact in advancing business objectives.

  • Design solutions for end-user adoption and productivity improvement, with usability in mind.

  • Provide consulting support on strategic and long-term solutions.

  • Conduct peer reviews of project deliverables to ensure high-quality solutions and deliverables.

  • Independently execute on complex configuration, reporting and other technical activities.

  • Partner with the Quality Assurance team to share project information and validate test scripts. Perform and coordinate system testing and write and execute testing plans.

  • Serve as a mentor and peer reviewer to other team members.

  • Design and deliver high quality training to end users.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Expert knowledge of information technologies and methodologies, particularly with multiple application systems.

  • Able to quickly adapt to and champion changing priorities and requirements.

  • Able to work with functional groups, including virtual and global teams, and different level of employees throughout the organization to effectively and professionally achieve results.

  • Self-motivated; able to drive work independently toward the successful attainment of set goals and as part of global and virtual teams to leverage input and knowledge base of others to provide well-rounded and thoughtful solution sets.

  • Understanding of strategic business initiatives and demonstrated ability to translate how they operationally and tactically apply to projects and challenges.

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively.

  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and related tools (e.g., Visio, Project, OneNote, SnagIt, Adobe, etc.).

  • Strong organizational skills: ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong track record of building and maintaining solid relationships with business partners and vendors.

  • Strong follow-up skills; ability to organize applicable department timelines and follow up with internal and external customer needs.

  • Excellent strategic and problem solving skills to effectively influence decision making.

  • Demonstrated flexibility in a fast paced and changing environment. Ability to react quickly and concisely. Able to champion change to other members of project teams.

  • Ability to understand, follow and recommend significant improvements to IT processes.

  • Able to negotiate agreements with stakeholders and influence decision-makers.

  • Excellent leadership skills; ability to drive and motivate team to achieve results; ability to influence and inspire action.

  • Able to quickly and independently learn new business models, processes, tools and technology, including Agile techniques.

  • Able to translate technical material for a non-technical audience and simplify complex concepts for inclusion in documentation processes.

  • Experience with data management, creating data models and governance.

  • Excellent ability to communicate project status updates to team and cross-functionally to ensure understanding.

  • Demonstrated success with identifying and synthesizing business partner needs into concise, clear and influential presentations. Can teach others how to do so as well.

  • Able to organize and lead effective meetings.

  • Demonstrated understanding of relational databases or SQL.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience required. Master’s degree in Business or technology fields preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years’ professional experience in Oracle E-business Suite - business analysis, application design, implementation, and support or as a super user or auditor preferred.

  • Certified Business Analysis Professional or Certification of Competency in Business Analysis certification preferred.

  • Tower industry, operations, leasing or real estate experience preferred.

ENVIRONMENT:

Approximately 100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. Approximately 5% travel may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.
