Sunovion Senior Director, Program Management in Marlborough, Massachusetts

Sunovion Pharmaceuticals is currently looking for a Senior Director, Program Management to join our Global Project Management Team.

The Senior Director, Program Management will lead the execution of key activities of the entire drug development programs and serve as the overall leader of development phase programs until product lunch responsibly, and coordinate with Commercial to ensure seamless transition of leadership.

Essential Functions:

  • Hold full accountability of the R&D program as leader.

  • R&D Program management includes management of: Budgets, Resources, Overall progress (timelines), Risk identification and its mitigation plans.

  • Review and allocate resources (incl. budget management) to ensure that resources, personnel and expertise are appropriately prioritized and deployed to successfully and efficiently meet study timelines of the CNS drug development programs while coordinating with appropriate functions/BUs to ensure inputs from Commercial and Medical.

  • Provide sufficient supervision and strategic expertise to ensure consistent processes, excellence in planning and the delivery of projects within study timelines.

  • Manage and lead the drafting and updating of the Product Master Plan in collaboration with all relevant functions.

  • Ensure its readiness before all critical phase transitions and annual budget planning process.

  • Manage compliance and risks related to R&D activities for projects.

  • Set clear standards and expectations for the accurate and timely reporting of status of all projects; provide relevant input to inform executive and strategic decisions and escalate unresolved issues to appropriate leadership through the appropriate report line.

Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Degree in life sciences (preferably MS or PhD).

  • 15+ years in the pharma industry with 10 years in a product development capacity.

  • Past record of achievement in leading and managing programs and product development with a thorough understanding of the drug development process at a strategic level.

  • Track record of success leading project teams toward NDA/ MAA submissions.

  • Deep understanding of operational aspects of pharmaceutical development (e.g., project timelines, finance, and clinical trial mgmt.).

  • Strong process management skills.

  • Effective influencing and communication skills to build relationships across functions.

  • Growth mindset.

  • Highly developed negotiation skills.

  • Strong knowledge of program budget process and resource allocation.

  • Superior oral and written communication skills are required, as is the ability to function effectively with senior management.

  • A strong focus toward creativity, independent thinking and results orientation is required.

  • Must have high ethical standards and impeccable integrity.

  • Must have highly developed personal leadership style and confidence.

  • Must be able to apply independent thinking, organizational abilities and strong discipline in a dynamic environment.

  • Must have strong detail orientation and be hands-on when needed to do what it takes and achieve key objectives.

The base salary hiring range for this position is expected to be $217,200.00 to $255,600.00 annually. The base salary offered is negotiable and potentially exceeds the hiring range depending on factors such as the candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, training, certifications and industry-based experience for the role. Our total rewards package also includes the opportunity for merit-based salary increases, short and long-term incentive plan participation, eligibility for our 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances. Our robust time-off policy includes accrual of 15 vacation days in first year, 13 paid holidays plus additional time off for a shut-down period during the last week of December, access to sick time, tuition reimbursement and our recognition program.
