HW Systems Architect / Product Line Technical Lead
We are looking for an experienced senior level engineer / architect with proven development experience to join our team. This is first and foremost a technical job that must reduce the number of unique solutions on our various programs and allow the RIS Integrated Communications Systems (ICS) Mission Area to capture more markets with competitive cost and schedules. The successful candidate will function as our leading subject matter expert for our AEHF and PTS product lines. He or She will be responsible to drive innovation into the product, develop IRAD/CRAD concepts for technology development, generate strategies and product roadmaps, and support to various capture efforts by preparing technical responses and ensuring there is consistency in a product line approach across the proposals and programs.
Responsibilities of this position include:
Encourage and foster innovation and technology insertion into our products and develop innovative solutions to meet Customer Specifications
Conduct design trade-offs with schedule, design complexity, design for unit production cost, manufacturability and low cost future growth capabilities.
Assess technology and manufacturing readiness level (TRL/MRL) within the solution trade space.
Generate hardware and systems architecture solutions
Monitor program execution (to ensure the vision from proposals stay consistent) and work with the chief engineers and HW Leads to ensure execution is occurring based on a specific set of processes and checklists.
Participate in milestone design reviews.
Participate in Business capture activities, technical proposal generation and request for information (RFI) responses
Develop relationships with Managers, Subject matter experts,
business leadership and customers
Responsible for developing best practices and design processes.
Serve as HW representative on Product line change control board (CCB)
Serve as a role model for behavior and conduct.
A minimum of 12 years professional engineering experience with a minimum of 5 years in a Technical Lead role designing complex digital and RF communication products.
Experience in developing architectures based on high level requirements.
Be familiar with latest technology trends in at least one or more of the following areas: digital design including: High speed interfaces, microprocessors, SoC FPGAs and interface protocols, waveform generation, and RF microwave Design including Up / down convertors, amplifiers or antenna design
Decomposing capabilities into core set of system functionality needed to support identified capabilities
Ability to review multiple programs (current and proposed) to determine a strategy for product improvements (roadmap) for both product enhancements and cost savings.
Knowledge of how to Design to Unit Production Cost
Proposal and Bidding experience
Demonstrated problem solving, organization, coordination, and planning skills
Demonstrated task ownership and accountability

Strong team player with good interpersonal skills as well as excellent written/verbal communication skills and a positive attitude
Possess, or able to obtain, Secret security clearance and COMSEC clearance.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems
Experience with satellite communications systems, including familiarity with security aspects of protected satellite communications systems
Advanced technical knowledge/recognition/experience in communications systems as demonstrated by patents, publications, advanced education, conference presentations.
Experience in technical project management
Experience in cost estimation and metric collection
Experience with Scrum / Agile execution and planning
Knowledge of modeling and simulation tools
Experience using DOORs tool for requirements capture and flow-down.
Six Sigma/process improvement experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
