Dell Data Protection - Sr. Advisor, Service Delivery in Massachusetts

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Represents Virtustream in a professional manner to customers, Virtustream Partners and other Virtustream personnel at all times. Provides support and instruction to customers and less experienced co-workers. Acts as a mentor and assists or presents training development environments to peers, customers and other organizations.

EMC Proven Professional Certification desired.

May perform other duties as requested.

Provides proactive recommendations to the customer for improving their use of Dell EMC Data Protection solutions to help maximize their satisfaction with Virtustream. Actively contributes to the configuration, layout and performance tuning of Dell EMC products.

Participates in the design and operational execution of the customer's disaster recovery process as required. Performs infrastructure maintenance and necessary data migration, as required. Provides assistance to Virtustream technical teams in the development of custom solutions and implementation preparation.

Responsible for performing daily operational tasks and maintaining availability at the customer site(s). Provisions solutions based on standardized procedures as outlined by Virtustream best practice documentation. Performs necessary infrastructure maintenance in accordance with Virtustream and customer's change management policies.

Performs according to established safety standards. Reports unsafe situations and recommends improvements. Seeks advice or assistance from management and/or Technical Support as required during difficult customer situations. Works in conjunction with Virtustream colleagues to ensure effective resolution of technical issues encountered during implementations.

Supports and reports to engagement Project Manager while assigned to customer engagements. Advises Project Manager on Level of Effort required to perform assigned implementations. Provides technical team leadership. May be required to act as Project Manager on less complex implementations.

Participates in the continual review and improvement of existing operational policies and procedures in compliance with Virtustream 's best practices. This includes automating repetitive and manual activities to increase productivity, improve service quality and reduce opportunity for errors.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Technical

• 5+ years as Senior/Lead Backup and Recovery Administrator (L3 level or higher) in a large multiple site Enterprise IT or managed services organization.

• 5+ years of Dell EMC NetWorker implementation and administration (OS Filesystem, HANA, Oracle, MSSQL, Sybase, DB2, MaxDB, Mongo, Postgres, etc)

• 5+ years of Dell EMC Data Domain implementation and administration

• 2+ years of Dell EMC Avamar implementation and administration

• 5+ years of Dell EMC Data Protection Advisor implementation, administration, and report generation

• Experience with Symantec NetBackup, IBM TSM, HPE Data Protector, HPE StoreOnce, or Asigra

• 5+ years’ experience with Virtualization and Cloud technologies strongly desired.

• 5+ years’ experience with Networking technologies and troubleshooting strongly desired.

• 1+ years’ experience Dell EMC Cloud Boost and Cloud Tier technologies.

• 3+ years’ experience with VMware ESXi, ESX, vCenter, VRealize Suite, and NSX strongly desired. This experience should include the planning, deployment, configuration, and administration of host systems and virtual machines.

• 3+ years’ experience with enterprise class storage. This experience should include troubleshooting performance related issues in relation to data protection solutions.

• Understanding of security best practices and recommend solutions or patches as part of preventative measures

• 5+ years’ experience with enterprise database data protection implementation and administration following industry best practices (HANA, Oracle, MSSQL, Sybase, DB2, MaxDB, Mongo, Postgres, etc)

• 3+ years’ experience with configuration management, scripting, and automation

Non-technical

• Experience supporting 24/7 customer operational support and delivery services

• Experience working in an ITIL based process oriented customer environment

• Strong communication skills, flexibility and positive attitude

• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

• Strong customer facing role experience

• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and expand skill sets

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or relevant work experience for this position
