RedHat Software Engineer in Massachusetts

Become part of our OpenShift team and use your passion for technology and development, balanced with the responsibility of running a hosted service and supporting an offering. The Red Hat OpenShift team is looking for an experienced developer to join us as a Software Engineer to enhance our Operator Lifecycle Manager (OLM) team. In this role, you will be a key member of our Red Hat OpenShift engineering team and focus on developing a solution to manage advanced stateful applications and their life cycles running on Kubernetes. You’ll help us provide a service that will change how development is done, using the power of Red Hat’s technologies and services hosted in the cloud. As a Software Engineer, you'll need to be able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic environment with the goal of making our end users and customers more effective with every release.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work closely with engineers on the Red Hat OpenShift and Operator Framework team to provide seamless developer experience

  • Interact with multiple teams within Red Hat and with the open source community

  • Use your excellent communication skills to communicate with other Red Hat OpenShift engineers, product managers, and management across the globe

  • Serve as an engineering contributor to OLM-related projects upstream and Red Hat OpenShift to deliver the functionality needed

  • Provide solutions and pipelines to enable seamless integration of Kubernetes operators onto running clusters

  • Work in a fast-paced environment

  • Communicate with end users through IRC, Slack, forums, and email

Required skills

  • 2-3 years of experience with enterprise software development

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to directly interact with customers

  • Ability to quickly learn and work on a day-to-day basis with technologies like Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Fedora, cgroups and SELinux, and everything containers and Kubernetes-related

  • Experience contributing to or participating in open source projects like Kubernetes

  • Experience with operators, controllers, and Kubernetes, or equivalent distributed systems experience

  • Familiarity with Red Hat OpenShift is a plus
