Senior Network Engineer

This position is part of a dynamic Information Technology team responsible for a global IT environment. This role will assist in maintaining an existing complex multi-vendor environment as well as drive new networking & security related projects.
Engineer and implement solutions for local and wide area networking in all Stratus locations and connectivity between them in a dynamic, complex L2/L3 environment.
Engineer and implement secure firewall, IPS/IDS, and other monitoring solutions to support the company’s security & connectivity needs.
Create and maintain networking & security standards.
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
Engineer connectivity solutions to integrate cloud/IaaS
Perform daily network monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all network resources, systems and key processes, reviewing all relevant logs & alerting.
Provide support for all LAN & WAN environments including responding to outages, performance issues, etc.
Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
Provide second level support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted user communities.
Apply patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
Maintain network environment and monitoring equipment.
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelors (4-year) degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science – or equivalent experience.
Thorough understanding of the TCP/IP protocol stack (IPV4 & IPV6) and associated protocols.
Experience with Extreme Networks L2/L3, Cisco routers & switches, Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco ASA, Aruba wireless, InfoBlox, NetScaler, and LogRhythm.
Demonstrated understanding of contemporary security threats and approaches to mitigate them.
Ability to manage multiple complex projects from charter through completion/delivery.
Demonstrated ability to analyze/identify complex networking and security issues while working on mission critical environments.
Technical certifications in relevant technologies strongly desired (e.g. CCNA/CCNP, CISSP, etc).
Six plus years network engineering experience.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Participation in industry peer groups, vendor events, and technical training is critical to maintaining a thorough understanding of emerging technologies and industry trends.
