About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Agile Program Management Director for Digital Commerce portfolio, accountable to lead all aspects portfolio, program and agile delivery responsibilities to meet an aggressive revenue and customer experience goal. The leader will provide strategic/tactical leadership and oversight for creating, sustaining, implementing, and driving efficient and effective project portfolio management in support of business objectives. The position requires significant interaction with cross-functional departments within the company, collaboration across other technology portfolios, and excellent communication and relationship management skills to influence and resolve issues.

This leader will play a Chapter Lead role (Spotify Agile Delivery Model) for Agile Delivery and support multiple squads and tribes with their respective delivery objectives. The leader will also manage a team of 15-20 scrum masters, program managers, RTEs etc.

  • Coach and mentor business and technology resources on their respective agile responsibilities as well as how to be effective in agile roles.

  • Coach a strategy for execution alignment across teams and tribes to produce and deliver the highest quality products, predictable pace and with consistent velocity.

  • Oversight and development of communication path to steerco and executive committees on progress of Digital Commerce and customer experience initiatives.

  • Provides hands-on coaching to agile teams in all aspects of agile (facilitating daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning, scrum of scrums, sprint demo, and retrospective meetings, backlog grooming, daily routines, self-organization, collaboration, iterative development, managing flow, calculating velocity, limiting work in progress, etc).

  • Concentration on developing execution leaders, Scrum Masters and closely partnering with the Product Owner(s), Chapter Leads and key business stakeholders to guide the value stream.

  • Establish program level cadence and drive program level ceremonies (e.g., PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, etc.).

  • Work with other business and technology leaders to drive the definition and refinement of the business intent backlog and partner with Delivery Leads to define and develop a comprehensive engineering excellence technology backlog.

  • Ensure cross-value stream coordination and collaboration.

  • Serve as an escalation for impediment removal for the Scrum Masters and agile teams.

  • Enable effective decision making and risk/return tradeoffs using quantitative and qualitative delivery metrics

Portfolio Management and Leadership

  • Fosters a business-oriented culture and mindset driven by continual service improvement techniques.

  • Manage a large Digital portfolio comprising of various programs around Digital Commerce, Digital Experiences, Search, Digital Marketing and Digital technologies.

  • Own strategic prioritization process for new initiatives aligned to company goals and objectives.

People Management

  • Lead a high performing global team of Scum Masters, Release Train Engineers, Program Managers etc. with the required leadership, influence and analytical skills

  • Implements strategies to attract, retain, motivate and develop talent in their organization.

  • Provides leadership, coaching and direction to the Digital team and staff.

  • A passion for guiding, teaching, mentoring, and leading people.

Financials and Vendor Management

  • Manage and maintain large Digital portfolio budget ($25M - $35M) and forecast and ensure portfolio meet budget guidelines

  • Manages 3rd party vendors and service providers; performance and SLA’s, incident handling and issue/problem resolution and escalation

  • 10+ years of portfolio and program management delivery and leadership experience.

  • 10+ years’ experience managing a high performing agile/scrum team or scrum of scrums

  • 5+ years in strategic planning, prioritization, and best practices.

  • Position requires the ability to establish self as a leader, to not only perform in a leadership role, but to also be recognized by other divisions and business partners as a leader.

  • Preferably leadership role in an eCommerce environment and 5+ years of leading Digital initiatives including Online/Mobile/Content/eCommerce etc.

  • Successfully managed a large portfolio or program (+10 active programs) with multiple/ enterprise business stakeholders

  • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the organization including managing through cross-business area or business unit prioritization discussions

  • Strong interpersonal skills, oral & written communication, critical analysis

  • Ability to lead self-organizing teams and drive change through influence.
