Waters Director of Systems Engineering in Milford, Massachusetts

The Director of Systems Engineering position represents an exciting opportunity to lead a high performance, global system engineering team.

This is a highly visable leadership position in which the individual will define and communicate system design strategies for new product development, leading strategy implementation through Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering and ICS/Firmware technical teams.

  • Drive Systems engineering deliverables completion to support assigned product development roadmap

  • Propagate system engineering thinking and practices into Waters new product development process

  • Work as point of contact with research, project management, marketing, CX/KM, product owners, engineering functions, development and scientific operations to ensure that user, system level requirements and competitive advantage criteria are met

  • Oversee system level architecture and requirements development .

  • Solve complex business and technical problems.

  • Ensure engineering practices are managed to appropriate quality standards.

  • Manage operation and capital budget to support assigned roadmap

  • Lead a high performance, global system engineering team, develop and mentor talent, and create an organization that delivers both compelling system vision and implementation

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related technical discipline with 10+ years of product development and people management experience; Master’s degree is highly preferred

  • Previous experience in applying System Design for Manufacturability to system and sub-systems designs in mechanical, electronics and software/firmware

  • Previous experience in customer centric design

  • Experience with modeling, simulation, and data analysis

  • Hands-on approach to prototyping, system integration and debugging of complex products, including optical, electrical, mechanical, and software components

  • Experience in the development of LC and/or MS instrumentation, or similar scientific or analytical instrumentation containing chemistry, fluids under pressure, optics, vacuum, particle optics, precision mechanics, electronics, and firmware/software.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to interact with senior management.

  • Ability to build effective working relationships among multidisciplinary, cross-geographical and multicultural teams
