Waters Principal Software Engineer in Milford, Massachusetts
Waters Corporation is currently seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our organization in our newly formed Cambridge Innovation Hub or our Milford Global HQ, with the flexibility to work remotely two or three days per week.
In this role, the individual will join a dynamic and collaborative environment, encouraging cross team development between Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Data Application departments. Specifically, the individual will join our R&D organization which develops our Chromatography Separations based Technologies.
The instrumentation being developed and maintained involves many electro-mechanical sub-systems which provide an exciting opportunity for learning system dynamics and integration of the different technologies.
Contribute to the design, development, integration and maintenance of a Linux based server controlling & managing multiple analytical instruments in a networked environment
Collaborate and work in a fast-paced cross-functional team environment
Troubleshoot and develop solutions for existing product issues
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or other related discipline preferred, or equivalent years of experience.
8+ years working as a software engineer in a related field
Experience and demonstrated strength in the following:
modern C++ software development for server-side on Linux
object-oriented design and development
using STL, Boost libraries
controlling and managing networked devices (instruments or similar)
Strong familiarity with:
modern software development tools (Git, JIRA, CMake etc.)
modern SDLC processes
Highly motivated, self-disciplined, independent and results oriented
Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills
Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with one or more of following: Yocto Linux, Python, Docker, SQLite.
